A Federal lawmaker from Kogi state has allowed his May
salary to be displayed on TV to counter claim of them taking
bogus salaries home.

Hon Leke Abejide, representing Yagba East/West/Mopamuro
constituency in the 9th National Assembly, noted that he
earns N697,000 monthly, asides his allowance in the interview
on Channels Television.

According to him, it is usually not enough to take care of
constituency needs which are up to N30-40m monthly. He
also disclosed that he is always left with less than N1.5m
monthly.

He also recalled how a politician from Adamawa who worked
in an oil company, left the National Assembly to return to his
job after getting elected in the 8th assembly because of the
“meager amount”.

He noted that the former lawmaker left his oil company to
contest in the election after being told that house of Reps
members are paid N30m, with a take home amount of N15m
monthly.

Abejide also said some of those who talk about federal
lawmakers making money, have been elected and are now
regret contesting.

The lawmaker further stated that only difference in their job is
their constituency project which amounts to N113m annually.
He however added that out of the sum, the federal government
takes 18.5%.

He also said that it is only in this administration that the
federal government’s cut from the constituency project is not
taken.

He should tell us about all the Monthly Allowances, all the Bribes he got from passing the Annual Budget, all the Contracts he got from being a Commitee Chairman/Member, all the Job/School Admission slots given to his office, all the Severance Allowance he'd get for being Voted out by his Constituents and........ the list is endless

Kudos to him for having the courage to even show his salary to the public. He should now proceed to tell us how much they make from runs and oversight functions.

I watched the interview.
After posting this alert, he was asked to tell the public his allowances and our honourable stylishly dodged that one , complaining only that tax, vat, blabla eat the allowances.

How can a country like Nigeria progress with this type of human being at the helm of affairs?

Nigeria today is the poverty capital of the world today, Nigerian leaders earn more than the first world countries, how can such country progress?

And the acclaimed educated people are against Peter Obi Presidency while still complaining of a retrogressing country.
