The first danger of private hospitals is that they often have competence gaps. This is especially very true of specialists hospitals. I have heard that a urologist can come and set up a neurological center. Because there is money in neurosurgery. So you have a specialist hospital where the oga at the top is not an experienced hand. But he has the money for packaging and machines, so laymen patients do not know what's up.

Hire a few junior specialists and youre in business. Contract to senior ones for serious cases. God help the patient if it is a case that needs a person with decades of experience

As for govt hospitals, and govt in general you must have an insider who can direct you to the right doctors. The general indifference of Govt is always there probably because there are no consequences in govt and also because the attitude of the ogas the top - the political appointees - trickles down. If the CMD is skimming money for diesel required to keep the hospital running, after a point you the doctor trying to save patients will harden yourself or you will run mad.

It's also what one of PDP/SDP should be doing in Kogi State.

POs ultimate contribution to Nigerian politics may be enthronement of ratfucking. Splitting the votes of the opposition as a campaign strategy.

Dude wants to out-Atiku Atiku!
Heck, even Atiku had the good sense to not go it alone in 2015 although he was more qualified than the party nominee.

I believe Obi's political fatuity is a major black mark on his capabilities.
Tinubu stooped low to conquer. Not Obi though. I'm eager to see how he'll pull the impossible.

Muri is the same with them bro.

I wish you could stay neutral. Supporting that thug ain't worth it. Both Dino and Muri have been part of what we are facing in kogi state. They've held positions at the national level with abysmal performance.

At least, we can make excuse for Ododo and hoping SIM/Wike happens to them.

But anyway, it's your choice.

Obi and Atiku are two sides of the same coin.

BAT built apc from Lagos. And slowly built it into a regional party. He built alliances and friendships. You do not become a political force overnight.

Peter obi rather than do the same with APGA jumped ship to pdp and burnt his bridges. He joined The party that denied him his mandate in the first place. Then jumped ship again when it was clear he was not the nominee.

As for Atiku he has been jumping ship for the past 20 years. If he somehow loses pdp ticket he will jump ship again. He dealt pdp a mortal blow in 2015. His actions directly led to the G5 and the fault lines within pdp.

My wife delivery was CS. Paid 470k. Scheduled CS was 450k but if your wife don already begin Labour before una later settle for CS, e don turn emergency CS be that so the bill na 470k.

Everything they used for the CS, I paid for it including 2 pint of blood, even their surgical gown and gloves na me buy ham after paying 470k.

Later heard govt general hospital was 120-130k for CS, he pain me. grin
My Twins birth was CS too at MCC Festac Town in 2018, the procedure was very successful with no blood given to her or any complication whatsoever and was billed ā‚¦135k. I wonder how much MCC go dey bill people for CS now....

U better thank God u didnā€™t hear about the Govt hospital gist earlier . Government hospital is not it at all except in cases where u are referred to a specialist there .

Trust me, Iā€™ve tasted both government hospital and middle class private hospital to know whose custody I will rather leave my loved one irrespective of the cost .
MCC's in Lagos are doing well in terms of Child Delivery, but i would never recommend going to any regular General Hospital. My first Son was delivered at the Health Centre in my hood, and it was a successful delivery with no complication and was handle by a single Nurse. I have been so favoured in terms of Child Birth..

Spot on.

In any case, it does appear LP is Obi's final stop.
Perhaps his biggest contribution to our democracy will be fashioning an enduring third force.
It may not make him the President, but it may be the perfect platform for a more politically deft candidate in the future.

Nigeria, others partner in $100 million global collaboration to leverage Artificial Intelligence for Development

The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy has today announced that Nigeria has joined a new global partnership to leverage Artificial Intelligence to solve some of the most critical challenges in the developing world.

This partnership, which was launched at the first ever global AI Safety Summit in the UK yesterday, will see partners like the UK government, through its ā€˜AI for Developmentā€™ programme, Canada, the United States, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and other partners in Africa fund safe and responsible AI projects for development around the world.

The $100 million partnership will initially focus on Sub-Saharan Africa, in a deliberate effort to ensure that this ground-breaking technology is available to all. The funding will support local expertise and technological capacity to support the efforts of the continentā€™s AI innovators as they build solutions for long-term development.

According to Dr. ā€˜Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister for Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, who led Nigeriaā€™s delegation to the global AI Safety Summit in London, where the partnership was announced ā€œArtificial Intelligence (AI) offers an unprecedented opportunity to appropriate knowledge more quickly and seamlessly in addressing some of our pressing social and business challenges. Our duty as policymakers is to ensure that our nation can participate and mainstream value creation from AIā€.

The Honourable Minister also added ā€œAs we embark on this journey to accelerate our investment in the use of AI for good, it is essential to collaborate with long-standing allies to deepen our capacity and knowledge.

This is why the ā€œAI for Development" programme of the UK government represents a significant step in our journey to harness AI for our collective prosperityā€
This partnership, which is in line with the FMoCIDEā€™s Strategic Blueprint, will further support ongoing Federal Government initiatives like the recently launched National AI Research Scheme, to build Nigeriaā€™s capacity in AI as part of our long term commitment to deepen the application of AI for economic prosperity.

The global collaboration which spans the next 5 years will among other details, fund postgraduate training and fellowships in AI in African countries, support investment in building data models that ensure accurate representation of Africa, build responsible AI governance frameworks to manage the potential risks of using AI and provide overall support for Sub-Saharan countries to participate more effectively in the global discourse on how AI is used to support the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals.

Sorry about your experience, my wife also insisted on general hospital even though my office HMO was there
But our own experience was pretty fair the only annoying thing is they left her alone to be shouting from 10pm to 2am
The foolish doctor excuse was she's stubborn and not obeying instructions he proposed CS I didn't even argue
I was leading her to the theatre when she felt the urge to push again and she had it without the CS but I still pay half of the CS money sha

My people are wondering why we have not try to get another they didn't know the PTSD I suffered that day is still there plus her blood pressure have not returned to normal till date

Oh I hear Ikorodu General Hospital are actually good especially their mother and child center but that first experience no allow us go back there again.

Is it the increasing number of substandard private hospitals wey una dey eulogise?

Let us add levels to this thing.

Top private hospitals are okay; The Evercare, St Nicholas and some other expensive/affordable ones around us. But many private hospitals are death centres.

The major problem of government hospitals is the lack of equipments and manpower. The doctor(s) are more qualified than what most private hospitals parade.

LASUTH is a government hospital that is very okay.Even LUTH is okay, except for the lack of equipments. Nigerian Navy and Army Hospitals are okay too.

Make we no go praise private hospitals too much oh. Many are not better than roadside canteens

The Ikorodu General hospital suffers from lack of manpower. The day my wife had miscarriage, it was only one doctor on round that day for the entire mother and child unit. It man was already overworked and tired sef by the time it got to our turn.
