What annoys me with this *our Lagos our Lagos people* are that 95% of them are not Lagos indigenes, they are visitors like the Igbos and every other tribe in Lagos. So why are you guys dragging what doesn't belong to you. Even your Lord and personal saviour "Tinubu" - is he from Lagos ![]() 6 Likes 2 Shares |

The Oyos had initially also taken Allada ,Ouidah and Cotonou at the time but the King of Dahomey had managed to take them back while the Oyo were very busy fighting the Power drunk Afonja and the Fulani at Ilorin The Oyos had fought Dahomey as Allies of the Eguns aare oona kakanfo oyabi had led the Oyo Army The Abeokuta Egba Army Controlled all of Lagos Mainland including Iddo Island and all the Territory from there to Abeokuta Which they had won in the Ota War of 1842 in Which the Oyos of Ibadan fought as Allies of Oba Kosoko and the Awori and received such a heavy defeat at the hands of the Egbas that the Ibadan Army had to be smuggled back home. The whole Episode almost led to the downfall of Basorun Oluyole back at Ibadan The Ijebu Army Controlled Everything East and North of Lekki including Victoria Island All Oba Kosoko Controlled was the Slave market and Port of Isale Eko on Lagos Island, Even Ikoyi belonged to the Onikoyi who was Awori Yoruba with Oyo roots Again if you hear that Yorubas spent 100 years fighting themselves till 1878, Just know that the Egba, Ijebu and Oyo Which included Ibadan were also fighting for Control of the Coast of Lagos Control of the Coast of Lagos meant Titanic Wealth. but unfortunately much of that was from the Slave trade The Lagos territory Controlled by the Egbas , Oyo and Oba Kosoko belonged to the Awori People who were the most Peaceful and accommodating of all Yoruba Clans Eko is Yoruba short for Ereko which means field and for Confirmation Ereko Market where the Egbas and Ijebu traded is still on Lagos Island today Also Eko Ende in Osun State was one of the Locations of the Jalumi War of 1878 The Awori have inhabited Lagos since the 13th Century when they migrated from Ile Ife led by Olofin Ogunfuminire who was a great grandson of Oduduwa and a nephew of Oranmiyan who headed to Benin around the same period The Land on Which Isale Eko of the Oba of Lagos is located belongs to the Awori Yoruba Aromire family till today Aromire was one of the Sons of Olofin Ogunfuminire The Otun Ekiti People migrated from Lagos in the 15 th Century and share the same ancestry with the Awori of Lagos It was the returnee Egba Slaves who had been Converted to Christianity at Sierra Leone Bishop Ajayi Crowther included that asked the British Queen Victoria to invade Oba Kosoko’s Lagos in order to finally end the Evil Slave trade Bishop Ajayi Crowther had met with Queen Victoria and Prince Albert her Husband at Windsor Castle over the Issue of how to finally end the Slave Trade in Lagos on 18th November 1851 and the Royal British Navy Bombarded Lagos one month Later on 26th of December 1851. Bishop Ajayi Crowther who was originally from Osogun near Oyo had himself at age 13 been sold to a Portuguese Slave Trader at Lagos for a bottle of Wine and some Tobacco leaves Capt Labulo Davies who later married Queen Victoria’s adopted Daughter Sarah Bonnetta (Aina) originally from Ilaro , was on the British ship that Bombarded Oba Kosoko’s Lagos in 1951 and Oba Akitoye whom the British had restored to the Throne of Lagos had first met the British Missionaries at Abeokuta while he was exiled there as Abeokuta was also Oba Akitoyes Owu mother’s Hometown he had promised. to end the Evil Slave Trade if the British helped to restore him to his Throne which his nephew Oba Kosoko had Usurped with the help of some local and Portuguese Slave traders after Oba Akintoye had driven the Portuguese Slave Traders out of Lagos 6 years earlier Slave Trading was Oba Kosoko’s Business and his Slave Market was at Ereko Market of Isale Eko on Lagos Island where he also sold European made Goods Ok listen to the Oba of Lagos Himself At 25 mins of the Video below what exactly did the Oba of lagos mean when he Said "I am a Yoruba monarch" ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y0IK0SL9s0&t=1740s 9 Likes 1 Share |

TruthIsBitter02: When the Yorubas fought the Ota War Of 1842 on which side did your Ancestors fight and who led them, Basorun Oluyole led the Ibadan and Oyo Army they Camped at Agege and they fought all the way to the Sea before loosing to the Egba Army Which Won all the Land from the Sea to Abeokuta with the only exception of Lagos Island Which they thought was not Worth the effort to take considering the huge cost in lives that fighting on the Sea could cost them . The Oyos had to Content themselves with Badagry, Seme and Porto Novo which the Oyos as allies of the Egun had won from the King of Dahomey in War earlier on that was how Badagry and Porto Novo became the Alaafin of Oyos Sea Ports and Part of the Oyo Empire 6 Likes 1 Share |

I don't know why some Yorubas always enjoy getting in the mud, literally, with Pigs. What is the point trying to prove to non-entity IPOBians, always the last to see the writing on the wall , the way Nigeria is shaping out? The 'refugees' of Nigeria will be the folks caught unprepared when what is shown below, that Yorubas are already up to speed with , becomes reality. Let Igbos keep saying "Lagos is no man's land" and whatever else gives them comfort. Abi Sanwo Olu, Governor and representative of Lagos, is not in the picture below? When regionalism becomes a reality how will the noise of Igbos prevent all States of the SW, including Lagos they covet so much, collapsing into a SW region as SW Governors are demanding below? Yorubas, please start following and supporting the politics and vision of our leaders. OP, for example, is saying same as SW Governors below but they have the orientation to chase things from a legal and constitutional perspective rather than be dragging with myopic illiterates stuck in the political dark ages. . Let us show our education and focus by supporting Yoruba Governors via lending our organised voices and time to their agitation instead of bickering senselessly with ideologically bankrupt refugees, political toddlers and myopic vagrants of Nigeria who remain stuck in 1982. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/swest-govs-propose-six-regions-demand-lg-autonomy-resource-control/%3famp 10 Likes

Yorubas do not own LAGOS,it's like saying Abuja is owned by gwari. LAGOS of today,is on Yoruba, ijaw Benin land however it's not owned by these tribes. LAGOS is owned by Nigeria.just like Abuja is owned by Nigeria not any tribe. LAGOS is a no mans land. It will remain so forever 2 Likes |

babasolution:Lagos has never been No mans Land. There are early settlers "The Yoruba" unless you kill them off, you will always be a visitor/refugee. Go to Abuja. The capital then was just 20% of Lagos. The present Lagos is Yoruba to the core. From the Governor to the kings. WE ARE ALL YORUBA. That is why we make your children learn our language in our schools because it is our Kingdom. 7 Likes |

marsman: Am sorry to say this but Lagos is not and will never be yorubaland. It's sole owned by Nigeria.Majority of the Yorubas in Lagos are migrants like everyone else. Everyone as equal stake in Lagos. You Yorubas will realise sooner than later. It's either you live it that way,or you loose the little you have in LAGOS. |

babasolution:No Yoruba is a Migrant in Yoruba Land. You will soon see, you remember the PVC nonsense and your tears. The hurricane coming for the erring ones among you will take you back to behind the river Niger where you came from. Our Heritage, culture and way life have already been embedded in the cities core as it own like all other Yoruba cities, its either you respect them or you get the hell out. If you are looking for a city you co own, go to Abuja. This is our city and you will play by our rules because we rule you. You remember OSO Abiola, that time you ran away back to your dead regions. It was only the true son of the soils, the Yorubas that stayed behind. This time you wont be allowed to come back. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

marsman: Again am sorry to say this,I know it's heartfelt, I don't mean to be invasive but the truth is that there's no Yoruba LAGOS. The Yoruba did not build Lagos in any way shape or form so cannot claim to own LAGOS. The builders of Lagos is all Nigerians, even northerners have a large stake to LAGOS probably more so than even the Yorubas themselves. Eg Apapa-oshodi road is being built by dangote, can the Yorubas then claim to own that road?that's breach of trust .Lagos was built by Nigeria on trust, the Yoruba can never ever claim to own LAGOS,if it gets to that point Lagos will be destroyed and majority of the Yorubas will return back to their villages. 1 Like 1 Share |

Wallahi, Yoruba has lost claim to Lagos. If they try anything funny or even attempt regionalism, they will understand why Lagos is what it is today i.e special status state and FG protectionism In such case, under proper administration, Rivers State / Delta State will overtake Lagos State's economic prowess in just 2 years. |

babasolution:Dude be sorry for your self. This is where we say the fact. Personally, I can't believe someone will say something as dumb as this. But I will excuse your Ignorance. Lagos was built by the Yorubas. Check the civilian governments that has been ruling Lagos since the the time of Jakande are they not Yorubas. Dangote has an Industry running in Lagos so it is expected of him to pay his quota, it does not make him special in any way, he is doing it because he enjoys the large economy of Lagos the Yorubas had built over the years before he came there. Apart from the foreign investment brought in by mostly Yoruba people, the highest contributor to National treasury of Lagos are the Yorubas. Lagos built Nigeria. Most major companies in Lagos contributing to the states development and resources are owned by Yourbas take Glo, honey well, GTB, Punch. You are laying claim to a dream man, Yoruba is already a compulsory Language in every school in Lagos, what else is too do. We are already feeding your children our culture, you can either cry on it or choke on it. If you want to scatter it, I will advice you start now because Yorubanization of Lagos has already been achieved. Igbos contribute the least to Lagos, this can by backed by the fact that the VAT generated in OYO alone accounts for all the total VATs gotten in the southeast. Even the influential popular foreigners in Lagos cannot deny it Yorubaness, its always the nonentities with nothing to offer. 3 Likes |

marsman: Will the Yorubanization of Lagos add one naira to the pocket of every Yoruba person in Lagos. No... Instead, we have your aged Fathers in Ladipo crying and begging for "UN" to come to their aid that foreigners are threatening to buy them out. LoL. Clownish set of people. No wonder Yoruba youths are now prone to thuggery, fraud, rituals and other crimes more now than ever before. You better find food to chop before coming to drag Lagos with anybody or group of persons because most of those in Lagos don't give an F about that lagos place, na to make money, flex and go back home when due. If you spend time on trivial issues like these, outsiders for don pack all the money for Lagos in Ghana must go, comot by December. Shine your eyes. |

marsman: Facts say the oil and gas companies plus the majorly Igbo owned banks pay the most task to Lagos.Teaching your culture to other people s children is the dumbest thing which Yorubas are known for it only opens the door to easier infiltration and invasion Lol.Lagos is what is because of Nigeria not the other way round,if Lagos wasn't the capital of Nigeria for seventy years it wud just be another Akure. Any yorubinization of Lagos will see Lagos decay. The neutral status of Lagos as come to stay and Lagos will henceforth even be more neutral. The more others even learn the language and culture of yorubas the more Lagos becomes neutral. The best areas of Lagos have minimal Yoruba influence. The Yorubas only dominate the rusty, decayed and ever rundown parts of lagos. Other areas are well evenly distributed and will be more so well into the future. I'm again sorry to tell you,the Yoruba have no single claim to Lagos. In the future the Yoruba governorship of Lagos will be well challenged and dismantled. LAGOS belongs to all. |

marsman: This is the problem with the average Yoruba person, they focus too much on intangible things, things with no real practical pragmatic value. So Woke Soyinka having Noble Prize means that every Yoruba Child has free education ba ? Or having 2 or 3 people on Forbes list means Yoruba race is richer. I pity your lack of wisdom. Do you even understand what per Capita wealth is ? Do you know that the average Swiss or Qatari is richer than the average American ? Yet America has the biggest and most billionaires on earth. Focus on sensible things before you begin to drag claims and bragging right. You don chop today ? |

chigator2:The funny thing is everything you mentioned is actually existing in the south west. I really am feeling sleepy, but I will reply you before I sleep. According the statista, after the south south, the south east is the next region with highest poverty rate in the South. South west has the least poverty rate. This indirectly means most people in south west are living above the poverty lines compared to place like the east were many are poor and wretched, no wonder the large migration to the west. The best and cheapest schools are in the south west. You will find good schools that cost close to nothing in almost every state in the south west. The south west has the highest literate level in Nigeria, the best Universities and also the smartest people. Our people making it big in the world is directly a good representation, that a large percentage of us has the ability and resources than other region with little rep in Nigeria to actually make it in Life. You claim youd have wisdom, but with America' s population you are comparing her to countries who don't have half of her population. You lack sense and wisdom. Its obvious 2 Likes 1 Share |

marsman: Fake Statistics, Nigeria is not organized or capable enough to provide credible figures. Since my birth, I have never been approached for census talkless of these data you mentioned. They publish forged figures which have no credibility. Ask them what methods they use in data collection, the sample size or the empirical meta data. You will be shocked that these agencies can't provide such. If Yoruba truly championed education the ugly sight of illiteracy and thuggery of Yoruba youths popular only in Lagos won't be common place. In this day and age, look at people like portable, an archetype of the lower class Yoruba youth. I haven't seen such stark brazen illiteracy in the rest of southern Nigerian. Educated bawo. Cheapest schools can't be in Lagos, go to North or even ABA. Some Private schools charge 5,000 a term. |

babasolution:First of all no fact can say this because Oil and gas pay their taxes to the FG. How many banks do Igbos own or control major shares exactly. Biggest banks in Nigeria First Bank, GTB , Polaris, FCMB, Keystone, Wema, polaris, stanbic IBTC, sterling bank belong to Yorubas. What Igbo investment can compete with Glo's over 9billion dollar investment This is turning into a Joke, I have to sleep. Feeding other people your culture is the best way to win them over, it is the best to groom their loyalty and use their Intelligence when they are ripe. This is why countries like America is leading in the world stage. They dont have dullards like tou in their govt who think internalizing their standard in others is bad. From Lekki to VI to AJAH to Ikeja are all majorly controlled by Yorubas. Igbos on the other hand are mostly found under the bridge or in the slum areas. That is why any time the Lagos state government wants to demolish the slum areas, the first person to complain will be an Igbo person Keep dreaming of the future. chigator2:Statista(edited) is fake, what a buffon. Many of the statistics are based on observation, consumer purchasing power, consumer spending power, Tax record with government, observed cost and standard of living in area, bank transaction records. I am surprised you claim smart, but don't even know you all dont even have to be manually counted before your population can be estimated. You are such a mo.ron. I feel disgusted talking to you. I should be able to estimate a country's population for the next 50 yrs, through regression analysis if I have a standard well calculated determinants . When asked to compare, eyewitness have always maintained that Anambra has the highest and most dangerous form of thugery and agboror system compared to Lagos. The streets are literal criminal dens. The disadvantage Lagos has is the execessive media coverage. And you think there are no private schools that cost less that 5000 in the west, oh my God, Are you purposely trying to be dull to win an arguement or you are actually dull. Schools cost 1k here and they still have standard. There is quality even at lowest price. Portable is an artist, No matter his behaviour he gives art, people are drawn to Art.
