TL; DR : Forget about japaing to Japan if you can't devote tons of hours of your time to learning how to read, write and speak Japanese. kiss

Now the Japanese speak only Japanese. Well, this doesn't seem like much, but it is much. You have to learn Japanese to be able to have day to day conversations with people, read billboards and signs, and most importantly: get a job or even school there. Japanese in Japan is as essential as water. So what do you do. You can change your dream country probably to New Zealand, Australia or whatever English speaking country you love or you could sit down and learn this piece of shite of a language.

Japanese is easy to speak. Within a month (of dedicated learning) you'd be quite comfortable with it. Just like me. Ohaiyō gozaimasu, Watashi wa Eiberu desu. This means Good morning, I am Abel. Note that I changed the spelling of my name because the Japanese usually change English names to suit their tongue.

Since it seems so easy, why am I making it look hard? Number one, Japanese don't use the Latin alphabet at all. So that crap I wrote up there is shit. Number two, the writing system of the Japanese is extremely difficult to master.

Japanese has two writing systems: kana and Kanji. Kana is further divided into hiragana and katakana while kanji is just kanji. Kana is easy as it is very close to the alphabet system of writing and is kind of constant (what you read is what you pronounce) but kanji on the other hand is just silly.

Kanji was directly copied from the Chinese hanzhi system centuries ago before kana was made by a Japanese Buddhist monk. İt is like the Egyptian hieroglyphics, but instead of having nice beautiful wholesome drawings, you have some ugly set of characters that require you to decrypt their meanings. The worst thing about kanji is not even how silly and unrelated the characters are to their meanings most of the time, the worst thing about it is it's unbelievable size. This piece of shite of a system has over 5000 characters/radicals and hell even after learning the so-called 3000 or 2500 average, you'd still meet a new one one day. Oh and I forgot to mention another annoying shit about the kanji system: it's pronunciation when used in a word is hardly ever consistent. For example this character 日 is normally pronounced nichi, but in this word 日本 it becomes Nihon that is Japan. This looks easy but what about this 3日, it's pronunciation is now jitsu. grin you see, this is even worse than English's terrible spelling system.

Having said this, if you have two years to waste, you can waste it learning Japanese or you can learn something like German or Finnish and head to these countries (i think Finnish is easier). However, you could just go to an English speaking country and put the work aside.

The Japanese have two writing systems. Kana and Kanji. Kana consists of two subsystems which are the hiragana and katakana, while the kanji system is an angry god on its owncheesy.

Hiragana and katakana are just systems that consists of syllables or sounds which make up every single Japanese sound. Hiragana is used for local Japanese words while katakana is used for foreign and scientific words. For example in the hiragana system the syllable "ra" is ら and the syllable "o" is お, and in the katakana system "ra" is ラ and "o" is オ. They both have about 46 I'm not really sure though but I'll post a link:

https://www.google.com/url?q=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiragana&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwjZ-c-zq8H4AhUQrxoKHV8YAUYQmhN6BAgJEA4&usg=AOvVaw2j5KxpzuJe8NuduDICKn7X

Now this all seems easy. Yeah, it would have been if kanji never existed. Kanji was the first writing system to be adopted in Japan, and it was imported from China (I guess our see where this train is going grin).

Kanji isn't based on syllables like kana, kanji is based on ideas just like the Egyptian hieroglyphics. Take for example this kanji character 木 , it looks like a tree right. Yup it is, it creates the idea of a tree. Now take this one 本 there's a line at the bottom which could mean something underneath the the tree or something underneath the ground or where the tree grew from. This means it could be root or origin or underground, well it's origin.

I know you're already seeing some issues with this shitty thing called kanji, but this is the least of your problems. Kanji characters don't retain their pronunciations or idea all the time when they are jammed with other characters. For example 木 on its own is pronounced "ki" but when it is used to make a word it's pronunciation could change. The same goes for the over 5000 kanji symbols shockedshockedshocked you talk wetin. Yes, there are over 5000, and no one really knows how many there are. An average Japanese person knows about 3000, while the smartasses know about 4000 or 5000. Yep, Japanese doesn't look so easy anymore.

What do I advise that you do? Well, learn it or change your dream country to an English speaking country or you can just learn something closer to English like German and go to Germany. If you do choose to learn Japanese, two years of hard work can make you a fluent Japanese speaker, reader and writer, but I'll advise you to forget writing and reading the language and learn how to speak it. Japanese for dummies is a nice book to begin with. There are also many online sources you can begin with.

So that is it, Jā mata.

Thanks for the update. Do they pay well if one should get a part time job? Also, if you stay in Tokyo, is it compulsory that you must know the language to get a job? How easy it is for one to get visa to Australia after staying legally in Japan for like two years?

Generally speaking, knowing the language in a non-native English speaking country will put you ten steps ahead of other foreigners who don't speak the language in terms of employability especially if it is not a highly skilled job.

If you will be pursuing a PhD in Australia, then you stand a chance.

Ok bro. I will be coming to Japan if mext approve my nomination from the university. After masters in Japan, is it easy to enroll for another masters or vocational education in Australia and process the visa while still in Japan?

İf University is the only reason of your being there good, you'll still have to learn the language. But I would seriously advise you to go to a Scandinavian country. Watch one of those foreigners in Japan on YouTube, you'll get why I'm speaking so gravely about them.

gringrin of course, very like the Japanese. People who banned child porn in 2014 aren't really worth the headache. Not to mention the absurdly high rate of sexual harassment in the country especially on trains.

There will always be immigrants there who formed an easy to understand, broken form of the language.

Honestly, I don’t see the big deal. Google is making communication a lot easier with apps that read signs and translate people’s speech. The world is now a global village because businesses fuel economies. Na money I dey go make from Japan while injecting value into their economy so whatever they have in place should favour my intentions.

I'm not saying it's shit miss. I'm saying it's too hard to learn. After wasting three years of my life trying to memorise about 3000 kanji, would I still get a job worth 750k? Answer's no of course. Let's be honest, it's too much work for a foreigner.

By the way, are you really Japanese? undecided

I maybe misunderstanding you. I'm sorry.

You learned Japanese language and you lived in Japan or still living in Japan?
750k? if I'm not misunderstood, this "k" meaning 1,000.
You learned Japanese because of you wanted to get work worth 750k in Japan?

Yes, I agreed, too much work for non Japanese peoples.

Yes! I wanna be honest!
So, I'm gonna very very honest with you! smiley

I'm difficult to understand.
Many things I'm difficult to understand from your writing.
Sorry, maybe because of my poor English skill.
But I really wanna understand!

Japanese peoples speaking, writing and reading Japanese language is not from yesterday or today.
Anybody who think or who wanna come to Japan never knew about that?
And at least, Japanese peoples learned Kanji during compulsory education 2,136 Kanji.
Compulsory education is total 9 years.
Elementary school is 6 years and junior high school is 3 years.
Maybe you already know about it.
So, of course if someone wanna learn Kanji need take time. Not easy.
But Japanese peoples also taking long time for learn Kanji.
Not We can read and write Kanji since we were born.

If purpose is just earn money like 750k, 750k yen? and if peoples could earn money like that in their country, why they decided to come to Japan?
Language is not easy, can't earn 750k etc, then why chose country like Japan?
Peoples never research about language, about money etc, by themselves before coming to Japan?

I know and I can understand that too much work for foreigners. Not easy.
But some foreigners don't mind about it or they know it or they already knew it before come to Japan.
Some foreigners just interesting about Japan, like Japan, wanna learn Japanese etc, then come to Japan.

Do you think you can easily living and working in another countries?
I think if peoples live and work in another country, they need to learn a lot of things.
Not only language, but also need to learn that country's peoples, their manners, laws etc.
Can't really know or can't really understand about all of things just in short times if peoples were not born and grew up in that country.

I have never lived or worked in another country.
I have never been to another country.
But I can imagine about living and working in another country is not easy to me.

Sometimes I'm annoyed about some non Japanese in Japan.
Because even here, on this website, I saw some peoples who is interesting about Japan, who like Japan, who already learning Japanese language, who really wanna study in Japan etc, yet they still can't come to Japan.
But instead of them, some non Japanese who is already in Japan did crime, insulting Japan and Japanese, complain too much, misbehaved etc, very annoyed to me.

Yes, I'm a Japanese. Nice to meet you! smiley
But why you are angry or annoyed like this? → undecided

Yes, I've confirmed it. You are Japanese. I don't hate Japanese people or Japan. Though they have their own issues like sexual abuse, they're still honest and really kind. In addition to this, the country is so safe. The idiot that killed shinzo Abe had to make his gun. That is a sign of a safe society to me.

However, understand that many of us that are Nigerians simply want to escape because the county has nothing for us, and we can't just go somewhere just because it is cool and safe. We need to improve ourselves, which means we need work. The majority of jobs for foreigners in Japan are teaching jobs. I'm not really sure about software development though. This isn't really favourable for most of us. But to anyone who wants to move there simply out of his open love for the place, you can start now to learn the language.

Thank you.

Hello, LienwaltAbel san!

Yes, Japan have many issues.
My opinion is no countries are perfect just like humans. No one is perfect.
Japan and Japanese peoples are not perfect.
We have a lot of issues.

Oh.... No....
Yes! sexual abuse... Many many Hentai in here.
Very disgusting!

Thank you so much for your kind words about Japanese peoples! I appreciate you!!

I'm still sad about Abe san.
To me, I'm feeling like Japan is no more safe.
I think many Japanese peoples are feeling like this now.
Many many bad things happened. Every day have bad news.
Maybe because I have never been to another countries that's why I can easily to have this kind of feel.
And I have some Hentai experience like someone chased me, someone entered my house to stolen my lingeries, someone came to around my house every 2 or 3 months to peeping my house, someone hiding and doing masterbate on the street to showed me what he is doing etc.
I don't remember how many times I called police to help.
Only this my experience making me here is not safe.

I think I'm getting to understand than before!
Thank you so much!

One of interesting about "country has nothing for us" is some Japanese peoples are also saying like that.
Like they said "Japan is world ATM", "Japanese government is very kind for foreigners or other countries, But ignoring own citizens", "throw a lot of our money (tax) for helping other countries, But don't wanna help own peoples" etc.

Yes, I think so, not easy for foreigners to get work especially permanent work in here.
But like my prefecture have assist for foreigners who wanna start business in here.
I'm checking about it now.
Not from overseas, for someone who is already living here and have visa.
Of course they have some requirements.

Anyway, Thank you so much for taking your time!
I really appreciate you!
And I'm very sorry for I maybe misunderstood you. I'm apologies you.
