BENIN CITY – Igbo in the United States and Europe, under the aegis of the World Igbo Congress, WIC, are to hold a summit in September to discuss problems confronting the Igbo in global economy and politics of the nation.

In a statement, Chairman, World Igbo Congress, Mr Joe Eto, said the summit, which would hold in Houston, Texas, United States, from September 2-5, would be attended by traditional rulers, Igbo academia and other stakeholders.

The statement reviewed the situation of the Igbo since the end of the civil war and regretted that the area had suffered neglect.

It stressed the need for the “preservation of Igbo heritage and necessary re-alignment of the current ethnic values to support a survival strategy.”

exactly why Nigeria will not move forward --- no one ever achieved anything with segregation.

What segregation?  Nothing wrong with it.  It sounds like a cultural and political summit.  It'd be even better if they included Igbo representatives from Cameroon and Togo/Ghana and any other areas where Igbos may have migrated in the 19th century after world slavery or settled in large numbers after the Nigerian the civil war.

As long as it's not a front for separatism.  Even then, they have a right to discuss it and put it to a vote.

Brain-dead monkey, you are one of those idiotts that any thing Igbo scares life out of them. What is wrong for a people of over 40 million to have a congress?. In America Jews and other nations do have their own congresses yet you do not run your smelly mouth about it. Get a life bigoted pig.
