Obi/kwankwaso Or Osinbajo/kwankwaso, Which Ticket Stands A Better Chance? by Penguin2: 8:28pm On Jun 28, 2022
Yesterday we read some whispers of how Kwankwaso is ready to step down for Osinbajo to be NNPP presidential candidate while he (Kwankwaso) would be his running mate. The writer claimed that the reason was because Kwankwaso believes that Osinbajo is the most sellable candidate across the length and breath of Nigeria right now.

While this might be mere speculations, I want us, politically sound people and not some biased blind supporters of any politician, to look at the prospects that either of this ticket offers and determine which of the tickets stands a better chance at victory in the 2023 presidential elections.

Some things to consider are, first, consider the fact that since 1954 till the 2019 elections, the Southeast and Southsouth have always voted in the same direction in general elections and that is not looking like it’s about to change in 2023. Now these two regions seem to have arguably adopted Peter Obi as their candidate as demonstrated in the upsurge of youths from this two regions registering for their permanent voters card.

Second, the Nigerian youths seem to have adopted Peter Obi as their candidate/project for 2023 and while it is general knowledge that Osinbajo is equally a darling of the youth, I do not think he can upset the youth support for Peter Obi as the Peter Obi train seems to have left the station.

Again, consider the fact that Igbos, who constitute the second highest voting population in Lagos and every other state in Nigeria after the indigenes, seem to have recovered from their voter apathy and are ready to come out and vote in 2023 to prove a point after both APC and PDP overlooked people from their region because they felt they do note have the numbers.

Then, consider that Osinbajo is from same Southwest as candidate Bola Tinubu of the APC which would only mean that Osinbajo would end up splitting Southwest/Yoruba votes.

Lastly, consider the fact that APC, PDP and NNPP having fielded Muslim candidates, Nigerian Christians seem to have adopted Peter Obi as their candidate for 2023. Now, Osinbajo’s entrance into the race will only end up splitting the votes of Christians who would ordinarily have voted in one direction for Obi.

In conclusion, when you consider all these points dispassionately, you would realize that Peter Obi is coming with the entire Southeast (90%), Southsouth (60%), the votes of Igbos in other parts of Nigeria (99%) and northern Christian votes (80%) while Osinbajo can only guarantee Southwest votes ( 30%) and northern Christians vote (40%, with Obi getting 60% since he will still be on the ballot).

Now, if you were Kwankwaso’s strategist, which deal would you advise him to do?

Penguin is a bird of reason!

Obi/kwankwaso , peter Obi is a free agent while VP is not at the moment.
It will create too much of a problem for him.
I still love him though

I am Igbo and Biafran.

Considering the current political climate in Nigeria , Osibanjo would stand a better chance. His age and religion factor is an advantage.

Igbos are not considered worthy or loved in Nigeria. That is why Biafra must come, let everyone answer their name and do what they can to help themselves.

Isn’t it obvious that Peter Obi is finally breaking that barrier from the myriad of supporters gathering for him from around the country?

Did you know a day like this would come for an Igbo man?

Any combination without Peter Obi in the lead is a losing combination.

Peter Obi is more in tune with young people who make up an intimidating population in this country.

Why accuse me of spreading it, did you not read it on the front page of Nairaland of Kwankwaso men making overtures to Osinbajo?

You know that Tinubu’s saving grace at the APC Primaries is because Buhari men worked at cross purposes against each other because they couldn’t agree on one person until it was too late.

Again, Tinubu had enough dollar to buy about 1200 delegates but doesn’t mean he will buy voters too.

Tinubu’s vote buying will only succeed in Southwest and you know it.

Anybody who comes to Southsouth or Southeast to give a voter money to vote Tinubu will be lynched and you know it.

Take a look at yourself. So you couldn't put all those factors into consideration before campaigning against Tinubu bitterly in the Apc primary?

Well, I always gave room for possibilities, didn’t I?

Now I’m telling you that getting APC ticket is one thing, winning the presidency is another.

Besides, the north is already leaving APC for him. If I were you people I would be worried.

Kwankwaso can't be VP to any of those political neophytes. So the combos are dead on arrival. No need wasting time on it.

If kwankwaso is really willing to step down for Osinbanjo and not Peter Obi, then he is seeing what others aren't seeing.
