My sons name is Joshua and my uncle plays with him with this big Joe motors advert: big Joe ayayaya and anytime my son sees my uncle he will say "mumm-mm" meaning mummy, bij Joe ayayaya. He will constantly point at the wall with anything that looks like a pencil and say wan, twuu, treee, agan which means again. and when i beat him he will wait for his daddy to come and as soon as he sees the dad, he starts crying and trying to explain dada, dada mumm-mmm ededee or whatever i hear him say and once the dad says sorry he will start laughing again. i just love being a mother cus motherhood is so much fun. lol |

Waoh, , my child's first funny word was daddy "ooooooooooooootop" which means "shut up". My hubby was gisting me about what happened to him earlier that day and she felt her dad was taking my attention off her and she said daddy? he quickly replied and she said "ooooooootop". I fell down while laughing at the way it sounded from her. My mum said she had told her that the day she went to pick her from school. She was a year 4 months at that time. Now we've got many of them, lol |

I thought i was doing pretty well by teaching my little one(1yr 7mths) how to speak English language ONLY, not until recently when in her bid to refrain grandma from interfering in her play mode, she screamed 'ma a nu e'! (I'll beat you) At first, we thought we didn't hear her well, then, she repeated it out loud again with some demonstration! Lol. Now, we speak both Yoruba & English languages to her, |

The usual a u bit u! pue da yo! (praise the lord!) and some that had been mentioned above. When he could pronoun names, come and listen to his versions of the names of the people around him: Ati Peeipe (auntie Dupe), gaa ma (grand ma), Boya (Bola). He hears people call his dad; Daddy Waye (Daddy Wale). It's a wonderful experience! I thank God for the privilege and pray for every family believing God for a child to be blessed with as many as they wish to have. |

This is so, so funny! of all the funny things I've heard from my children, the most funny one was when my daughter was 2+. She came to me one morning while i was preparing to go to work, she was already dressed for school and the following conversation followed: Daddy, our chisha (Teacher) said we shood bing (bring) 5 yaya (5 naira) and i replied, tell your teacher that a small girl like you should not handle money. She turned without a word, took some few steps and dropped a bomb shell! Stupid daddy, she said. I was alarmed and called her back but she turned and ran away. each time i remember that conservation, i always laugh. why? i was clever not to be dupped by a two yr old |

From what we have been hearing, hardly does any of these children learn the words in the native languages of their parents first. Later when they start speaking the "unusual" English tought them at infancy, then they would claim English is not their "mother tongue". This is very thought provoking and a big shame, |
