Nigeria is a hell hole..for those who condemn folks who find their way abroad by all means, the subject is one clear reason why...

The country is cursed...a useless country for any child to be given birth to.

Please Keep voting the most corrupt people that cannot offer you the basic things you need to survive.

I used to pity Nigerians. I no longer do that. It seems as if the people enjoy the same old rulers that keep them subject to bondage and poverty. The people seem to lust after those kinds of leaders.

Nigerians deserve the people they vote for.

This is total fallacy. I work in the same hospital and this is a lie. If you are in Ph you can go to the hospital and verify. There is power outage, but no loss of lives in anyway near this magnitude.
Every death can’t be attributed to power outage, people die everyday in hospitals.
Federal government via the ministry of health needs to step in and solve the issue regarding the power outage.
Pls stop spreading fake news, you can go to the hospital and ask the mothers in the mothers room whose baby are in SCBU to know the truth.

You just agreed that there was loss of life. That's the key thing and some of those who died can be attributed to power outage.

The question is why should people die due to power outage? That's a big failure oh

Baba there's no hope anywhere. Peter Obi will not embezzle OK what of his ministers? What of those civil servants? What of that 9ja police at the road side? Or is he accountable for all of them? The corruption in the civil service na government we go blame?
Baba forget all these talk I no see anything anybody fit do. No matter who enter next year our problem will still persist. Insecurities will still be there, there will still be deficiency in our infrastructure, food price will not reduce in fact e fit go up, petrol price will probably increase, even if the power supply will still be bad, it'll take more than 5yrs to fix any stable light supply for this country.
You guys should better not get your hopes up and be disappointed as buhari disappoints his BMC. Na only ASUU strike next government fit fix the rest na autopilot.

Look, we need a leader with that strong will to take decisions. We need that leader who is very firm with his convictions. We need that leader who will not look at tribe or religion.

The late Mr. Li Kwan Yu, was known as the father of Singapore had that political will to take the decisions that made Singapore the quality of nation that it is today. It took years to achieve, but they achieved it. Look at the United Arab Emirates today. They set off in 1985 and today their airline has one of the largest fleet in the world. It is the center of commerce where those who cannot locate industries in Europe and Asia can easily get their products.

Our politicians are greedy, selfish and crude. All they seem to understand is the language of looting. They are actually in it. That’s why they believe so much in permanent interests. That’s why they are able to easily decamp when things do not seem to go their way.

We need a leader who understands how economies work. We need leaders who understand how nations works. We need leaders who know how to develop and make nations great. We need young and capable leaders. We do no need treasury leaders, those who are not about to account for how they acquired their great wealth.

A vote for Peter Obi is a vote in the right direction.

At the end, this is what you get when power costs less than what it costs to produce it.....

Plus, a lot of Nigerians don't pay their power bills because it is too expensive apparently. This impacts on the ability of discos to provide good service...and at the end, as seen here...babies die.

If we want good power

1.Government should let the DISCOS and GENCOS run at a profit. And stop setting their prices.

2.The Nigerians who don't pay for power and chase DISCO workers away from disconetting them, should pay up, and stop complaining. Yes, estimated billing is not fair...I know from firsthand experience...but even then, I alway paid...not because I was a good boy, but because it benefits everyone else if we all pay.

GSM did not have that problem...which is why I can type this from home. 17 years ago, I would have had to go to a internet cafe.

Even when govt ensures the system is working, some of these doctors and consultants will still sabotage govt effort all in a bid to continue to refer patients to their private hospitals. This is what many of them do and I stand to be corrected. They will always tell patients facilities are over-stretched or one machine is not available while they refer such patient to their own clinic. Everyone is culpable in this country and the blame should not be entirely for the govt alone.

You are right. Everyone is culpable but it still ends with leadership. The leaders are to enforce law and obedience. That's what they signed up for. That's literally their job.

A governor knowing these things happen in his domain will find solutions within that hospital or outside.
He can easily order for the transfer of those patients to state owned facilities if the Federal one irks him.

And please do not say state goverments do not intervene in Federal institutions and establishments.
The last time I checked states do rehabilitate Federal roads for a refund, do partly fund security agencies with equipment and logistics and even build infrastructure within Federal educational institutions from time to time.

It is only about interest or lack of it for the welfare of the people.

The irony is that you mentioned strong will and Peter Obi in the same conversation. Someone that's decamping from one party to another? Someone that can't fight his ordinary state assembly but was impeached? You can quantify PO with other thing but strong will no join abeg. If na strong will you should be mentioning Wike, Atiku, Saraki, Akeredolu, Elrufai, Zulum Umahi, Tinubu but Pete Obi no near. Even yesterday his followers dey complain that he apologizes a lot imagine coming out every time to deny this and that.

1.It is a FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL. And state governors know that when they spend state money on reparing federal government things, they won't see their money back (Ask any governor past and present ). So, blame the federal government

2.Power supply is in private hands. And the federal government forces them to charge at cheap prices that do not let them earn enough of a profit to fix things better (like the GSM people who were allowed to charge sky high prices so that they could make money to pay for building our GSM network from scratch, because government had no cash to do that)..so again, federal government fault.

All you have said is sensible. But even then, federal government takes the lion share of the blame this time.

And how would Peter Obi improve power supply, and health care funding?

Keep in mind the same issues were there when he was a governor, and are still there now.

Plus, we have a problem with power supply....it is charged at a cost below its cost of production, plus there are people who do not pay for power.

These are serious questions, mind...and the same questions too go to tinubu, atiku and company.

The principal reason for privatization was to curb corruption and get the economy going again. Unfortunately that attempt was ruined by the same politicians who introduced many crooked schemes to subvert the power sector.

Without doubt, Obi brought about massive improvements in the economy of his state when he was the governor. Politicians of other parties tried to bring his record to disrepute.

Do not forget that the present government told us about an agreement with Siemens of Germany to improve the power sector. We may wish to ask what happened to it.

I made a comment earlier of the need for a leader with the will politically. Obi is that leader.

The single reason this country has faced economic difficulties is corruption. The moment we have a leader who can tackle corruption without fear or favour, then we are on the right step, in the right direction. Other issues bedeviling the country like power, healthcare, roads, etc can be easily fixed. A corrupt leader will ensure that only corrupt persons like him hold positions of power.

So we are back to what they told us about Buhari...vote for him, he would fight corruption.

Plus, I doubt Obi or anyone of them would remove subsidies on power and petrol. If he has a definite statement on that, we shall see.

the state should have stepped in to avoid loss of lives...

thats the Oath they swore..

Ye but the truth is The state can not do everything I believe you heard about the amount of money owed by the federal gov to river state which Buhari promised to pay during this Wike government though I dont know if it has been repaid.

However, I made mention of what wike has done with regards health sector in the state you can go and check it out.

Now in this case am sure there is no hospital that has got to the level of installing Incubators and will go all the way to have that installed or operated without a backup power source.

The Medical director of that UPTH should be arrested and questioned to know why he approved for Incubators to run without Power backup well that may not happen cos we live in a country where leaders with animal brain are celebrated and allowed to rule while we fold hands akimbo and oly complain and wail.

Now is the time to make amends to curb all this leadership gaps that has promoted negligence and unaccountable governance yet we see some people calling for another pending disaster whose sole aim of contesting to be president is because it is his time.

How can students who have been staying at home for months due to the strike by lecturers that the APC cannot resolve be encouraging same mediocre party to remain in office?
