Thankfully, the school day passed by fairly quickly, and when the bell rang at three o'clock, I made my way to my locker to get the necessary books out for my homework. As I slammed my locker shut, I felt a pair of warm hands cover my eyes.
"Guess who," The voice muttered, and it really didn't take a genius to figure out who it was. I turned around to face a smirking Carter, and I flashed him a short fake smile and pushed past him, books in tow.2

"Do you need something Carter?" I sighed, noticing that he was following me down the hall. "You know, I could easily tell by your voice that it was you, I don't even know why you do that."

"I know," He confirmed, smirking, yet again. With Carter, you just expect him to be constantly smirking, which always causes me to roll my eyes at him. It makes me wonder what is really behind the egotistical smirking jerk facade.2

I glanced at Carter and was surprised to find that he was not smirking; he was in fact frowning. Wow, I guess Carter does have another facial expression besides The Smirk. Which also made me want to ask him what was on his mind, but then I remembered that he was not nice to me. I don't care.1

When I continued walking down the hallway, Carter jogged up to me, setting his hand on my shoulder. "Kristen wait." I gave him a quirked eyebrow and a tilt of my head. "I can't help but notice your off mood today so there has to be something wrong, care to share?"5

I narrowed my eyes at him. "I don't know what you're talking about, nothing is wrong. Why are you asking?"

He wouldn't look me in the eyes. Completely weird coming from Carter Morrison.1

"Never mind, it's whatever." The rest of the walk back to the student parking lot was silent, and it was kind of awkward.

"Put a smile on your face, you look weird when have a straight face," I teased, and he cracked a grin, The Smirk coming back. Carter wasn't Carter without The Smirk.

"Wow, you're so nice to me," He commented sarcastically, and I chuckled.

I waved at Katie and Lizzie, who were talking outside of their cars. I sauntered over to them.3

"Hey, are we going to the game tomorrow night?" Katie asked me.

Football was yet another stereotypical attribute at Berkley High that was insanely popular, and if you were somebody, you went to the football games. I always went, because it gave me something to do, and my brother was on the team. I enjoyed going to the games just so I can make fun of him in his uniform. It was amusing.4

"Most likely, I don't usually miss a game, do I?" I smiled, and she shrugged.

"You're right, and I'm sure Brendan makes you go to half of them," Lizzie laughed, and I chuckled with her.1

"You'd be surprised."

I could see the man of the hour a couple cars away, standing in front of his car with Carter and Katie's brother Tucker.1

"Do you guys want to crash at my place tonight? My parents are out of town, again. Is anyone surprised?" I heard Brendan ask the two guys, and I rolled my eyes, Katie and Lizzie chuckling.

"Looks like you're in for a fun night," Katie laughed, and I sighed. Telling both of them I'd FaceTime them later, I waved goodbye and made my way over to Brendan's car, getting into it and honking the horn, scaring the three guys. I laughed when they all flipped me off, and soon after that, Carter and Tucker retreated to their own cars, and Brendan got into his own.

"The guys are coming over," He told me. Didn't even ask if it was okay with me. Dick.
"And what if I wasn't okay with that?" I countered, and he shrugged.
