Wike called him a common trader
Ned nwoko said he is at best minister of finance
He was called a stingy man
Dino said it is not his turn
Kwankwaso said the north will not vote him
Kola Abiola said he is wasting his time
Deji Adeyanju said he lacks structure
PDP and APC and their fans are tearing him down
They used his photos on praying mat to stir up religious hate
They got a boy’s picture marching on Nigerian flag, labeled him an IPOB member and claimed he was Obi’s son
They accused him of being a drug dealer
They accused him of being the biggest landlord in Onitsha even though from records he turned down offer to take choice property while still a governor
They accused him he always lies, even though he always tells them to verify his claims which they never did
They have tried to use religion and ethnicity to divide his supporters

IN ALL OF THESE OBI IS JUST FOCUSED ON MAKING NIGERIA BETTER AND DOES NOT RESPOND TO NAME CALLING

It obi or nothing

For a nation that has crude oil in abundance.....build more refineries, invite investment in refineries, encourage state governments especially oil producing states to build their own refineries and the issue of subsidy will die a natural death.

This guy sensationalizes everything.

He does not address issues to a logical end.

He just reels out stats to impress listeners without offering a reasonable solution.

Subsidy is a delicate national issue. Until we have local production capacity, its removal will hurt this weak economy.

Dangote refinery should come on board. FG should strike a contract refining deal with him. He can also be paid for refining with crude oil. That will tremendously reduce pressure on forex and freight costs. It will boost Naira value, as over 50% of our forex goes to oil importation.

That is the only way subsidy can be addressed.

Peter Obi is just a noisemaker
And what has Atiku and BAT said about it?are they noise makers or not?

To break it down, Peter is saying, the money we will save from subsidy, will be used to solve critical challenges in health, agriculture, education and power, hence compensating/complimenting the subsidy removal with something beneficial to Nigerians.

The best way we can survive without subsidy is to have our refineries working at a capacity to service the full country.
We can't be exporting oil and still be buying at rates higher than those without crude.

Another alternative is to have adequate power supply to lower the demands on oil for the daily economical needs of the nation.

No matter how hurting it is for the nation's wealth, fuel subsidy is one of the few ways that the government is directly giving back to the people.

I still don't know how we were cajoled to protest against fuel subsidy in 2012 (perhaps except for the looting)

What do I mean? Take a look at the price of our deregulated diesel flying high at #810, 850 and above and see the harsh effect on food prices and cost of long journeys.

If Peter Obi has an alternative to fuel subsidy that the world doesn't know of, he should hint us. It would be disappointing to ride to victory using lies

If you had read the interview without bias, you would noticed where he said there was no equivalent to subsidy yet....

He simply mean if you are removing the subsidy you have to still inject the money into the economy, into key critical sectors so that an average NIGERIAN won't feel it,imagine injecting those trillions of naira into nigerias ECONOMY without corruption..

I understand how hard it is to comprehend simple words when you have been governed by herders for over 7 decades, you start thinking like a livestock.

To break it down for you, Peter is saying that the savings from petrol subsidy could be used to solve critical challenges in health agriculture education and power.

Invest the savings from subsidy in power and increase our grid generation, this way there will be less demand for petrol (even if it's expensive due to subsidy removal). Invest it in basic amenities that will impact the lives of Nigerians and they won't feel the heat of subsidy removal.

I watched the interview...the guy basically said he would wait till there is an 'alternative'

The truth of the matter is, there is no alternative. SUBSIDY HAS TO GO. It is eating up our economy badly. SUBSIDY HAS TO GO. We cannot be making it unprofitable to refine petrol at home, and be dashing big man in NNPC billions of naira, for nothing. We cannot lose billions to smuggling of fuel abroad.

SUBSIDY MUST GO. Simple and short.

Yes, it would...but it would mean that we no longer spend the money on subsidy...and prices go up.

Which is politically expensive...which is why no one has removed subsidy...and why anytime people like me suggest it, it is met with abuse.

Nigerians wuve subsidy. They wuve it too much.
