Given all the noise about tenures, I think Nigerian presidents should have a single three year term.

Other branches at the Federal level (Senate and House of Reps) should stay as is, same with governors.

A single three year term, with the president's salary set at 10 times the minimum or average wage of a civil service worker will mean the attractiveness reduces.

The President should be made to submit a report of his/her personal assets before and after, any shares he has or companies he controls should be given to a trustee to manage.

The states should be encouraged to take more responsibility for their own population.

If you must have "oyel" money then trade with the "oyel" producing states.

Let the centre be weaker so the country can go on in peace or go separately peacefully.

My Opinion oh!!!

Having different term lengths for governors and the president/NASS will cause a lot of confusion

Elections won't hold at the same time.

^^^ Should elections hold at the same time for all? I mean they currently don't hold at the same time for Reps and Governors, do they?

The way I see it, Nigeria will probably benefit more from having more elections at this time since we are still new in our democracy. The cost of not having them more frequently is significantly higher on us as a country.

We can have elections every year/other year to weed out the scumbags-in-office, and find replacements that understand they are equally expendible.

Staggering elections may allow continuity,

The US, whose model we're copying, has senators on different term lengths than governors and the president.

Additionally, it would be easier for INEC to "experiment" with improving the electoral process on a state election than the havoc wreaked every four years.

Monitoring the improvements in ballot papers and training of staff becomes a gradual, process and easier learning curve than the incoherent system currently in place.
