'And they lived happily ever after'. Every person who watched a Disney movie or read a princess book has heard the phrase. After the villain has been vanquished and the couple is reunited, the words, "...and they lived happily ever after" floats into your line of vision. Perhaps, we only ever believed it when we were young and quickly woke up to reality as we got older. But still, there are many things wrong with that popular phrase. For example:

• Nobody stays happy for forever: There are people who are truly happy with their lives, and while that happiness might permeate most of their lives, they can not deny that there were also moments of sadness, grief, sorrow, or even just indifference. It's what makes us humans, this variety of emotions that we feel; the rollercoaster we seem to ride, our highs and our lows.
This is why perpetually smiling people have always creeped me out. I just think, "are you always so happy?"

• You still have to figure out your shit: Even when everything goes according to plan(like in the princess stories) and you end up with Prince(ss) Charming, you still have to figure out how to rule a kingdom and how to cohabit with said prince(ss) who actually snores as loudly as a bull. Love isn't enough, the relationship still requires empathy and generosity and honesty and kindness, reasonability, and some other virtues. As Nigerians say, "problem no dey finish". You just learn problem solving skills and how to keep your cool in the face of all the odds against you.
