We are also losing investment, and we haven't gotten any benefit from the high oil prices.

2.We are not an exporter of manufactured goods (Yes, I'm dreaming here...but we want to have a strong currency...and nations that have a strong currency are exporters of manufactured goods.

3.We are wasting billions on petrol and power subsides, instead of letting them be in a position to make a profit, attract investment, which could lead to them working well, and helping power our economy more (more refineries, increased power generation)

4.Corruption is still a way of life, and it hinders our growth and attractiveness to investment.

5.Really, even if it is all we do, we need to export more of other things.


GDP grew under GEJ...meanwhile we were still a broke nation then. And it should be growing more. We cannot keep relying on loans and funneling money for debt because we are oil dependent.

But comparatively , considering the dwindling major resource opportunities, this government has outperformed previous governments.

For the fact alone that inflation was lowest in the history of Nigeria, and this was achieved under Buhari, even if it was within a quarter, shows that this government has tried.

Give the same challenges (oil price slump, COVID) to wasteful managers like Obasanjo or Goodluck Jonathan, and see how they would perform.

For all his shortcomings, Buhari has not fared as badly as we like to think as far as the economy is concerned.
