The patriarch of Omatseye family in Warri, Delta State, Professor Jim Nesin Omatseye, has appealed to those who disagree with the article titled: “Obi by Sam Omatseye” to jettison threats to harm their son.

Prof. Omatseye, while noting that Nigerians are in dire need of positive change, asserted the negative reactions that trailed the article published on The Nation’s Monday, August 1 edition, is as a result of the high level of poverty, insecurity among other menaces facing the nation.

Reacting to the development on Friday on phone, he noted that it is not out of place for people to disagree with a journalist’s opinion, pointing out that the writer, like every other person, is entitled to his opinion.

He said: “I want to react to the negative reaction that is coming from many quarters as a result of the article Obi, which was written by Sam Omatseye, who is a member of my family.

The reaction that is trailing that publication, I believe, it’s as a result of what is happening in the country; the state of insecurity, the high level of poverty, the suffering of so many people. And as a result of this, people are looking for change, whether from the right or from the left.

“The regular parties have people who have disappointed a lot of people in the country as a result of these challenges and people are looking for change.

“Whatever it is that Sam has written, it’s his personal opinion to which he is entitled. But he should not be threatened by anyone because he’s doing his job as a journalist.

“It is not all the time that what journalists say, everybody agrees with. Therefore, we want to say, from the perspective of the family that he should not be threatened or harmed by anyone.

“We plead with the public and those who disagree with him, to not do anything that will be detrimental to him”

Nobody is harming the foolish journalist, whose only motivation is his stomach..

You wish someone death, then turn around to claim people are threatening your life.

Baseless propaganda believed only by fools..

Obi’s supporters should avoid mob mentality, you can’t win election by threatening people who don’t agree with you and your candidate. We must all not support Obi. Some of us will support HE Atiku and some will support Asiwaju. That is how politics is. We all know the worst candidate is Asiwaju but you must not insult him or his supporters. Anyway, I hope Nigeria doesn’t experience BATing.

The articles title is Ôbí-tuary and Sam Omatseye should be arrested for incitement at least. You can't use your position as media hack for a leading candidate to threaten people with death while insinuating that they're members of a proscribed terrorist group in Nigeria automatically putting a mark on all Peter Obi supporters even Peter Obi himself. Sam Omatseye is a wicked demon and his father should have smashed a Coke bottle on his head for being an ídiotic disgrace to the Omatseye family
