Does Prostatitis Require Abstinence? by Monica511: 11:04am On Aug 08, 2022
Does prostatitis require abstinence? This question seems to trouble the vast majority of prostatitis patients. Most patients think that their prostatitis is caused by excessive indulgence in the past or excessive masturbation when they were young, so they must be abstinent. However, does prostatitis really require abstinence?

The prostate is shaped like an inverted chestnut and is located in the male pelvis. It is composed of glandular tissue and smooth muscle, and its main function is to secrete prostatic fluid. Studies have shown that the prostate can secrete 0.5-2 ml of prostatic fluid per day, which is an important part of semen.

If there is no ejaculation for a long time, the prostatic fluid produced by the prostate will accumulate in the prostate gland duct. Over time, precipitation will occur, and the gland duct will be blocked. Once the gland duct is blocked, the prostatic fluid will not be excreted smoothly. Prostatic fluid is continuously produced so that the pressure in the prostate will increase, causing discomforts such as swelling and pain. At the same time, the tension in the gland increases, bacteria multiply in the gland, and the toxins produced cannot be excreted normally, which will aggravate the symptoms of prostatitis.

In addition, if the prostatic fluid is not excreted smoothly for a long time, the prostate cells will become congested and edematous, the prostate volume will increase, and there will be symptoms of urination stimulation such as poor urination, residual dipping after urination, frequent urination, and urgency. These are precisely the clinical manifestations of prostatitis.

Prostatitis can be divided into acute prostatitis and chronic prostatitis. In patients with acute prostatitis, sexual function will be inhibited. If they have sex, it can also cause pain or blood sperm, so it is not suitable to have sex.

And chronic prostatitis should stop sexual life appropriately in the obvious stage of clinical symptoms or during treatment with prostate massage and local injection. During the stable period of symptoms or between episodes, normal sexual life can be carried out, and normal sexual life should also be carried out.

As long as they grasp the frequency of sexual life and regularly empty the prostatic fluid, it is also beneficial to clear the inflammation in the prostate and promote local blood circulation. But the principle to follow is "neither abstinence nor indulgence." Therefore, the most important thing in the sex life of prostatitis is moderation, and absolute abstinence is not advisable.

When suffering from chronic prostatitis, pathogenic microorganisms and their decomposition products are easily mixed in the prostatic fluid. Regular sex life helps to discharge semen, unblock the gland duct, reduce the retention of inflammatory gland fluid, and has a certain auxiliary effect on the treatment of prostatitis. Otherwise, the prostate will be congested and aggravated, resulting in a lingering disease that is difficult to heal.

The claim that abstinence treats the prostate has no scientific basis. Patients with chronic prostatitis can choose to have intercourse every five days, seven days, or ten days according to their age. Those who are unmarried or unable to have regular sex life can use masturbation to discharge semen regularly.

Patients with chronic prostatitis should use condoms during sex to prevent semen with pathogens from entering the partner's vagina and causing infection. In addition, after suffering from prostatitis, a warm water sitz bath can be used as an auxiliary treatment. A warm water sitz bath helps to improve the blood circulation of the pelvic floor tissue, relaxes the smooth muscles of the urinary and reproductive tracts and other muscles of the pelvic floor, and relieves symptoms.

In addition, prostate patients can also use suitable massage techniques to allow the prostate to expel inflammatory substances from the body, and perform a drainage effect on the prostatic fluid so that the stagnation in the prostate can be discharged. It improves blood circulation to the prostate.
