Nigeria Ranks 19th on Terrorism Risk Index

Nigeria occupies nineteenth position on the list of “extreme risk” countries and territories, according to the latest Terrorism Risk Index (TRI) released by Maplecroft.
Maplecroft, a United Kingdom-based risk analysis and mapping firm, has an international team of 75 multidisciplinary experts-including over 50 research analysts.

It provides services used extensively by leading global corporations across all sectors, governments, United Nations agencies and international non-governmental organisations.
It developed TRI to enable business to identify and monitor the risks posed by terrorism to employees and assets in 197 countries.
In the latest TRI released by the firm, 20 countries and territories were rated as “extreme risk,” with Somalia, Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan topping the list in that order. These top four countries also sustain over 75 per cent of world’s fatalities from terrorism.
Other countries rated as extreme risk include the newly independent South Sudan (5), Yemen (6), Palestinian Occupied Territories (7), DR Congo (cool, Central African Republic (9), Colombia (10), Algeria (11), Thailand (12), Philippines (13), Russia (14), Sudan (15), Iran (16), Burundi (17), India (18), Nigeria (19) and Israel (20).
.
.
.

It cited the activities of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), which it said had launched attacks beyond the Delta, in Abuja, the nation’s capital city.

It is, however, important to note that the ranking of Nigeria was based on the data available on terrorist incidents over the 12 month period prior to April 1, this year.
Lately, there had been series of bomb attacks in the northeastern states of Borno and Bauchi, and North-central state of Niger by Boko Haram. Mid-June, the group struck in the heart of the nation’s capital detonating a bomb at the car park of the Nigeria Police headquarters.

This English people will never stop amusing me. Those days they called themselves Explorers and Voyagers seeking for other fertile land and invaded territories without Visas. Now the call us immigrants and even condescend to calling us illegal most times.

Now they have decided to call us terrorist, savages and all sorts for fighting our wars now even tho it seems pretty late, sure there is always a starting point for revolution. Were they without wars and bombs? Then, they called it Wars, now they call us terrorist.

If England has never fought a war or thrown a bomb to Scotland, let them cast the 1st stone or leave us to fight our own shares of wars. The War phase would not last forever, Nigeria would certainly be better like they have become in many years to come. But we must fight our wars first. Period

Listing Wars of the United Kingdom. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_involving_England This shows the even fought their brother state Scotland in 1337 - 1453

What a shame! There is absolutely nothing that we are good at. While other blessed countries are in the top three, we are at No. 15.

who is God's name is the fool that compile this list? where is UK or the USA on this list. i beg ignore this stupid list and the white men that compile it, USA is the most prolific terrorist country in the world and it never made the list, the uk for example have exported prolific and exemplary terriost like the shoe bomber and the 7/7 and where is spain and their ETA terrorist?

The reigns of USA terrorism knows no boundary from South america to middle east to all though africa and those men like henry kissinger and geroge bush, cia etc are as free as the canary bird florishing and living large, and before i forget where is france on the list and her destrcution of central africa. At times i do wonder how the western countries define terrorism and terror?.

I do understand nigeria have some serious issues with regards to MEND and boko harem but close examinisation of this group will reveal links to this western useless oil companies , i just hope GEJ does something drastic and brutal to eradicate this about this terrorist groups.

We need a change in this country.

It's time we rise up and fight for our rights.

Let the government liberate Biafra, then kill each other how they want.

The high level of illiteracy in the North is astronomical has a lot to do with this, as well as the selfish interest of Rich folks or political elites from the North, how on earth would someone say EDUCATION IS A SIN? They have good examples of wealthy folks in the North that if not for Western Education, they wouldn't have been closed to achieving their full potentials, What are those people doing ? instead they are promoting Islamic schools alone, governors building more of Arabic schools where English language is not a subject"!!!!!!! That is an act of seclusion and how do you expect someone that is secluded to understand others? My greatest fear for Nigeria is not the fear of Boko Haram but the time bomb of unemployment that is ticking and about to explode, So many questions without answer, PRAYER IS OUR NUMBER ONE SECURITY IN THIS NATION, WE SHOULD NOT ALLOWED *THEM* TO BREAK US UP, THEY KNOW WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVED TOGETHER AND IN ONENESS AND THEY ARE AFRAID OF OUR POPULATION.
