Thats not how things work in a federal system or a federation. Federation is marked by 'resource control', meaning that the federating units take the bulk of whatever is realised on their land and pays the federal government at the centre an agreed tax

Nobody on earth will join a system where 87% of his money is "shared"

We had a federation with fiscal federalism until Agunyi Ironsi in conjunction with Ben Nwabueze abolished the regional structure and replaced it with a unitary structure. So, let’s keep enjoying what you guys gave us.

That lie has been told many times in over 50 years, but it is not true. At no time did Ironsi abolish the 4 Regions he inherited and at no time did he introduce unitary rule. All 4 Regions had resource control and revenue sharing formular agreed at independence, right up to the day Ironsi died

The person who actually introduced unitary rule was Gowon. It was Gowon who came in after Ironsi and enacted Decree 14 of 1967, which abolished all 4 Regions he inherited from Ironsi, replaced them with 12 States( or 12 units) and also abolished the revenue sharing, which introduced unitary system

This is one of the reasons Nigerian history is not taught, so people will not know the truth

N268m mockery. It's not enough to clean the environment from pollution.

More of the dividends from Anambra oil goes to the north of Nigeria via the excess number of states proliferated in the far north by Arewa soldiers. Pollution from oil processing does not affect the northern region.

Sadly, you’re spot on! The biggest mumus are the states producing the most who are quiet while their resources are being plundered and their environment polluted…while being given a pathetic 13% for their troubles!

The injustice Nigeria knows no bounds.

You produce oil, the federal government takes a whopping 87% and gives the owners of the resources 13%. That is daylight robbery!

When you ask why, they will say it is because of "one Nigeria"
is it that federal government actually take 87%? This is how it is done, the total oil revenue for the month is share among the 3 tiers of government. Before that, the 13% derivative must first of all be removed and the remaining is share among the 3 Tiers of government

Ignore that illiterate. He is probably a teenager who doesn't know that the bulk of revenue that was used to run the eastern regional government was from tax and not oil as the oil industry hasn't taken off then. Notice his penchat for attaching oil ownership to ijaw while ignoring the several other ethnicities in the Niger-delta.

Ijaw produce ever 90 percent of all Nigeria's crude oil both onshore and offshore.
Make Ijaw none balkanized and different states will be removed from oil producing states.

That's south south and south east are Niger Delta region.

That's why they are called Niger Delta region..
But most people from outside don't get or understand..

The fact only Biafra sit at home is effective in the south east doesn't change the fact that it was an ijaws man who brought up the name Biafra..

But some clowns of the generation still don't understand

Biafra, Niger Delta, bed of natural resources , gave the region same name .. but to tackle some issues ... (Don't want to mention), that's why you have South South and southeast

But many illiterate whom seems to be more in numbers refuse to learn and understand

This is false. NigerDelta is a political name for oil producing state. If Lagos start producing their oil in commercial quantity, it will be part of NigerDelta, just like Anambra. If I may ask, can you list the NigerDelta states to see if it is just SE and SS. Also note that some SE are not ND. Stop spreading false information or maybe you need to read more.

Also note that Bendel state (now Delta and Edo state) was part of western region, when Nigeria had 3 regions (West, East and North), before mid west was created. Bendel state was mid-west. Later on, we now have 6 geopolitical zones: where north was divided into 3, and Cross Rivers and River states now combined with Bendel state to form south south. Also note each region or sub ethnic group always lobby for their own state or region. For example the River and Cross rivers states didn't want to be in East region because they believed they are minority and being marginalized. And it was win-win situation for the govt because it was an opportunity for them to take the oil states out of "Biafra".

NW, NE, NC, SW,SE,SS and also NigerDelta are all political names used in distribution of wealth in Nigeria.

I cringe when I hear people say I'm from NigerDelta. Ondo state which has always being producing oil but those wells were misallocated to Bendel state before it was corrected is a ND state.

You are the one trying to twist history. Ben Nwabueze drafted Unitary Decree 34 of 1966 and Ironsi signed it into law. Decree 33 abolished regionalism and centralized government of the country. Sadly for him, he did not live long enough to implement the law Nwabueze crafted to give him absolute control over the country. Gowon simply implemented the law he met on ground by abolishing the region and creating states as replacement.

Oil was mined in Nigeria for over 45 years before they announced the presence of oil in Oloibiri. Shell was headquartered in Owerri before then and ask questions of she'll camp in Owerri. The present day Alvan, govt house, police headquarters were all shell camp when they were milking Owerri. Oil will finish in your region one day and you will have gas as well!!!

Or is your history different from national history? Or you know nothing of Gowon, or maybe you needed an Igbo name for your lies and hatred?

Orient never discover any oil in Anambra basin. Shell and co where the ones that discover oil and gas in Anambra basin. Shell only allow orient to have access to the oil well because shell is only interested in gas reserves which they are working to start exploring soon. Beacon and the wells have been marked even before Peter Obi was born. Before Anambra and Nigeria were created.

So shell was drilling before the southern protectorate was created abi.... Bros you dey lie for Africa sha

Decree 34 of 1966.

Bros why do you like to disinform people. Decree 34 was never practiced as Gowon repealed the decree. Gowon now promulgated decree 8 which is what has been in practice with several military governments and this one. Even Ironsi's decree 34 consolidated the civil service to a central command structure, he didn't abolish regions neither did he create states. Decree 8 of 1967 put paid to that
