There is this federal road in my state, this particular road is being worked on every year meaning they are using substandard materials on it. Money that would be used for other things is been used on a particular road every year. Imagine traveling and you are met with rain on this said road just forget about that journey cause you will be stranded already except you are ready to drench yourself in the trench.

Sometimes I wonder if this country called Nigeria is Cur**d.. imagine taken your child to Health Centre and there' isn't fixed price on drugs and running test there.... And the nurses there will curse your life out if you're not pricing it well..

Sad. This is a picture of the corruption that goes on in various spheres of our lives as Nigerians. Right from our schools.

Only the knowledge and fear of God can stop a person from going along with the drift. It's sometimes overwhelming.

One thing is sure: we shall account to our Master one day.

In the meantime, let us brighten the corner where He has placed us.

. The North is like another country on its own. People do what they like there. if you go to the South a lot of checks and balances are there to ensure money. Goes to the right accounts. However corruption is in the South too.

It's far worse in the South

The hospital is supposed to have a finance department that takes care of payments

Yesterday I was to go for a test , but I first paid at the finance department of the general hospital.

It was the receipt and the test description slip I gave the lab scientist and everything was done appropriately.

The hospital management isn't serious, they should have been able to fix this mess already

Only the fear of God can help us get things right in this country

I agree but not so open like this that they do in the north with impunity! I was for example in a court in the North Central.. Some people came for the signature of the judgeo on their Code of Conduct forms. They all paid ckose to 500 each but only the receipt of 100 was attached to the form each. Who kept the remaining 400naira? Federal High Court was the PlaceThis is Nigeria where we are fighting corruption but suddenly is corruption is pursuing us all

HAVE YOU TRIED EDUCATION? WHEN I DISCOVERED THAT FG REALLY GIVES FREE BOOKS AND MATERIALS TO SCHOOLS THROUGH THE UBE ,BUT THEY WHERE HIJACKED BY THE SO CALLED ELITES(CONTRACTORS) WAS WHEN I FEARED NIGERIANS. THEY WILL BUILD OR RENT WAREHOUSES LOAD THOSE BOOKS, CALL IN DEALERS FROM OUTSIDE TO REMOVE THE ORIGINAL COVERS THAT HAVE THE " NOT FOR SALE" PRINT & REPLACE THEM WITH NEW COVERS,THEN SELL THEM OF TO OTHER DEALERS. NIGERIANS ARE ROTTEN, ESPECIALLY SOME OF THE SO CALLED ELITES.

The system is very corrupt!

I just don't know how we will get out of this mess..

At the point we are as a country, even if you elect an Angel to govern this Nation....it's likely the angel will end up being corrupted.

We need total overhauling of the system....

We need to find a way to close the gap between the rich and the poor...

Let's all have access to basic amenities like good hospitals, education, electricity, malls , cinemas and the likes...

Let's have access to cars, houses and all...through working insurance and mortgage system

So that the pressure of getting rich at all cost, to have access to these things by the average worker, who have access to public funds will not be there...afterall, they are so pushed by this pressure of getting their children a better tomorrow and also have a good living..hence resorting into humongous corrupt practices...

We have a long way to go..

God Bless Nigeria.
May GOD bless you abundantly for the insight in your write up, some years ago, i was in abroad, honestly it was hard to distinguish between the poor and the rich, they all have equal access to everything you mentioned in your write up. in fact there is not a single house without at least two good cars! i pray Nigeria get to that point where having basic things of life will not befor only the rich people.

Many people don't know that it is impossible for politicians to steal money without the knowledge of the civil servants in the various ministries. But only politicians names are on people's lips. We are all the same after all

You are right. I was almost moved to tears while reading the post. Tell me, how can we get a good leader since the problem is from the grassroot.

A lack of self-esteem or confidence in one’s ability, fear or insecurity in a person makes one become more corrupt.
He then tries to find his security only through money. But the more money he acquires, the more afraid and fearful
he becomes because the money is not earned in a right manner.

Yes you are right...
There should have been internal control system running in that organisation....
How can somebody doing test be the same person collecting money....there should be a diff personnel doing that

Try check the NEPA abi power holding or EECD ppl, the corruption there is extra massive. We're completely on our own in this country. One day we accosted a NEPA worker on why our bill continue to increase, he said their head always give them some amount they must remit every month irrespective of the power consumption

The followers is as bad as the leaders!
Or rather, the leaders are bad because they are drawn from a mass of already corrupt ordinary citizens. We love to tell ourselves that we act the way we do because our leaders set a bad example, but the truth is precisely the other way around: there are very few ordinary, church/mosque-going, "honest" Nigerians who wouldn't put Dasuki, Abacha, Diezani and the rest to shame if ever given the opportunity. All that "I hate the corruption of XYZ" means when coming from the mouth of a typical Nigerian is "I hate how XYZ are leaving me out of their corruption". If not for this corrupt mindset, every election wouldn't turn into a tribal, religiously sectarian "do or die" struggle with people mouthing nonsense about "turn by turn" or "fairness, equity and justice" ...

If the fear of God were sufficient to set Nigerians on the path of honesty and decency, then most "religious" Nigerians must be atheists in practice, whatever they might ostentiatiously pretend to be. One never sees priests, imams, pastors and "prophets" disturbing the public peace so flagrantly in bastions of clean government like Denmark or Switzerland as one does in Nigeria, where people have time to spare raging against gays and crossdressers, while greeting public officials who steal funds meant for orphans and widows as "big men" worthy of adoration.

And what would turning whistleblower achieve in a massively corrupt society like Nigeria, except to turn the guy into yet another target of victimisation? Or do you imagine that the people he'd be blowing the whistle to aren't also involved in all this corruption?

It will continue as long as the present structure subsists.

Put an end to 'allocations' and the monthly sharing of Federal 'income' and all that will end before sunset.
Those States will be forced to eagle eye their parastatals.
Our structure is the fuel that fires corruption.
The youngest states in Nigeria are about 26 years old, old enough to fend for themselves, the oldest are 55 years, old enough to take care of daddy and mummy.

In proper context States are expected to take care of the Federation, not the other way round.
If Nigeria were run as an enterprise by now the branches should be returning investment or wisdom will determine mergers or liquidation.
What a failed entity called Nigeria.

The next president will come and struggle again.
When we say leadership is the problem of this country, I just feel we all trying to shift total blame on one person. Anyone holding a key position in government is a leader. That is just one small hospital you talking about. It happens in all other hospitals in Nigeria. What about secondary schools, the power sector, security etc. Is it the people the present that we still check..it is painful.
No too much expectation for Obi

All leadership, that is visionary leadership has to do is to push for restructuring.
This involves bringing people together and asking them how they want to live, simple.
Their answers will impulse leadership into action.
Nigeria is very easy to lead, just ask the British colonialists.
We just do not know how?

Happens in every sector. who is going to investigate? its high time we call a spade a spade. I like your sincerity and not involving with them. it would have been good you mention the name, address, LGA, council, address the lab is located so that the necessary agencies that are involved in fighting corruption can fish those bad eggs out. I am not afraid of anything in life again. i have seen near death and i have come out from it and what it thought me was never to hide anything, any thing that could help the living. let the bad ones get out from the ssytem. corruption willl take us no where again.
