Then Lagos had better fast track the licences to generate her own power without the constraint of the Fulani led government of forcing the IPPC to channel every generated watt into the national grid while they then wait for the FG to "transmit" whatever fraction of the total grid power they deem fit that Lagos needs; same way they have done the IGR of every state since the time Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi cancelled the great famed regional system of government that was favourable to hardworking Nigerians across the different regions.

If Lagos fails to do this, the Fulani head of PHCN will just wake up in Abuja one day and say, "zis Lagos fifu are enjoying za train too much fah! Shut zown za fawa supply zo Lagos and stop zat train from functioning".

Remember that it was Buhari during his first stint as Head of State that scuttled Jakande's Lagos' dream of having the first metro train station in subsaharan Africa.

It was they that vehemently opposed the take off of Amotekun, when they have already had an unconstitutional backed JTF armed with AK47 in their region for years. They were so happy that Ebubeagu and ESN were failures.

If regional government was not practiced during the time of Awolowo, I'm sure the Fulani would have stopped him from establishing the first ever television station in Africa (earlier than France did), so also would he have been prevented from building OAU Ile-Ife and also stopped from having a Southern Region embassy in the UK as at then.

Lagos is in 21st Century while Peter Obi's Anambra and the 4 other states are still in the 16th Century.

Please we don't want a coward as President.

President Tinubu.... come and work your magic at national level.

He's the only one amongst the candidates capable of solving the electricity problems of Nigeria.
This is too much sir

He has even added another lie to the mountain of bullshit
Tinubu already has a reputation of solving complex problems. OBJ starved Lagos of Federal allocations and Lagos didn't collapse

Electrifying the blue rail will be the worst thing to happen to the rail system in NIGERIA. Imagine powering the train through electricity and NEPA takes light while the train is in the middle of nowhere….GOBE!

Way to go LASG but there should be proper quality control because the BRT is an example of improperly managed transport system in terms of the quality of service, inept drivers and ticketers etc undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided

This is a good development, at least the road congestion will be reduced.

Na so we dey talk and praise the Alausa lootocrats since Thiefnuibu talked about this light rail in 2000.
Ever since billions of dollars have been stolen through it with nothing to show.
Will Lagosians ever wise up to this scheme

Lagos light rail’ll be ready in June – Fashola
January 9, 2013

The Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola on Tuesday said the first phase of the state Blue Light Rail project would be completed by June this year(2013).

He expressed confidence that Lagosians would start enjoying the services of the rail project immediately.

The first phase would run from Marina and terminated at Okokomaiko area in Ojo Local Government.

Fashola spoke during an inspection of ongoing projects in the state which took him and his cabinet members to Orile-Iganmu, Alimosho and Ejigbo areas among others to assess the level of works being done by contractors.

The governor, who inaugurated the trackwork of the blue light rail at Alaba Suru, Coker-Agunda Local Council Development Area, said the level of work on the road and those of the National Theatre and Alaba-Mile 2 rail stations, would ensure early completion

He said, “In order to finish the project, the contractor did not go on vacation during the festive period. This will ensure that the project is delivered on time for the use of Lagosians.

“The first section of this rail, which started from National Theatre, Orile-Iganmu to Mile 2 Bus Stop, would be fully completed with the tracks laid.

“Construction work will continue on the project from Orile-Iganmu to Marina, the expansion work on the road from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko will also be intensified.

“This is what we do with the loan collected by the government. We don’t use our loan to pay salaries and other recurrent expenditure, what we do with our loan is to provide capital projects that would serve the residents.

“When the project is completed, the state would be at par with other major cities of the world.”

This is what is remaining (plus the ongoing iconic Marina Station)…. You can see the surface, that’s where the 2 set of tracks will be. This Blue Line Rail will run on Electric, Yes … ELECTRICITY ... An IPP is already being built for it around National Theatre.

That's awesome... Eko o ni baje... Lagos is now on positive steroids. grin

Sorry, is this blue line supposed to pass through third mainland bridge ?

Is it going to solve the traffic gridlock between Lagos mainland and island so people going to work from mainland can move faster ?

What about people going to international airport and goods coming from apapa ?

Do you know there is an IPP that powers Lagos island introduced by Tinubu when he was governor. Clearly you do not know that as a result for more than a decade, they have 24/7 electricity in many parts of lagos island CBD? I am sure they have factored in an IPP plant that is supplied by gas.
