WHAT HAS ASUU SACRIFICED OR WHAT HAVE THE LOST TO THIS STRIKE
The issue of ASUU and the Federal Government of Nigeria have gone to the extent that one should succumb to the other for the benefit of students out there. This is barely six months that ASUU had embarked on strike for the purpose of mandating the Federal Government of Nigeria to adopt and implement the agreement the duo had already signed since 2009. Yes it is quite true that what ASUU is demanding is their right and nothing more, but at the same time, students are the ones suffering this two giants fight. Based on my own analysis, students have sacrificed their time and resources supporting ASUU to actualize their reasons for ASUU's strike. Now my question is, WHAT HAS ASUU SACRIFICED? the answer to this question is 'NOTHING'. For ASUU to insist that the Federal Government should pay them their six months salary which they did not work for is something that all the students who are affected by the ASUU strike should look into. If the Federal Government have agreed to the demands of ASUU and refused to succumb to the payment of ASUU'S salary for six months without working, maybe the strike continues for this cause, then what is the sacrifice of ASUU on the cause of getting the Federal Government to fulfill their promises to ASUU, since students have sacrificed their time and resources to make the strike produce a positive results. If the Federal Government should pay ASUU for six months without working, that means students are considered to be fools for being used by ASUU to actualize their interest alone. The interest of students should also be considered as the are the leaders of tommorow.
In conclusion, if the Federal Government should maintain on their stand of NO WORK, NO PAY law, then ASUU should please see it as the sacrifice they have made to actualize their reasons for the strike. That is my advice, because if they continue with this strike because of their six salary without work, that means ASUU should be hold responsible for the students not been able to go to school for the past six months.
Students be wise.
