Simple!

You need to do a domain mapping of a custom domain to your old wordpress domain name. This way, the old domain reirects to the new domain name.

Check the wordpress support for how to do this.

2. In effect, you now have 2 urls: the wp subdomain and your own domain

you still get traffic from your wp subdomain, so why not put up a notice on your pages that you will be switching to the new domain in a few months time, or try meta refresh?

Domain mapping bro. No backyard method can easily match up with it. If credit card is a problem, use a payment service like orderbay as suggested by someone else. If it were a , I will easily show you the way out, cos google already have the mapping tool installed on its Blogger platform.
