On August 7, 2011 · In News

Lagos State  Indigene Political  Emancipation Forum, an umbrella body for  indigenes of  Lagos, has called on the  Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to correct what it termed as the political intimidation, oppression and suppression of Lagos indigenes.

Mr Nawairudeen Idowu, the Forum’s spokesman, who addressed newsmen, said: “A situation whereby all the local government chairmen are non-indigenes, most of the councilors  are non-indigenes is untenable”.  He attributed the situation to the act of selection instead of allowing the people to decide who should represent them, “All the local government chairmen are tactically selected by instituting kangaroo primary elections”, he said.

“Five Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) were created out of Alimosho Local Government and only Egbe Idimu has a semblance of an indigene running it.

“The same problem is facing Lagos State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives while in Alimosho House of Reps, the position has been rotating between two non-indigenes since 1999”.

There should be no shock about this. The aworis and eguns have been screaming marginalization by the Lagos state government for a while now. They have not even ruled in their own state yet. It's sad if you ask me.

A C N should meet and see what they can do to correct that. Alhaji is using the wrong word when he says non-indigene. Non-indigene of Lagos or non-indigene of Yorubaland.

I think the Aworis should chase these thieving Yorubas back to their own part of SW. Enough of all these deceit.
They should ally with Igbo to contest under APGA in the next elections. We will vote for them. cool
Re: ‘ACN marginalising Lagos indigenes’ by koruji(m): 3:38am On Aug 07, 2011
Do you people really think this kind of thing up for yourself or somebody really opened up your cranium to put fecal matter in there?

If Yorubas are thieving in their own land what name shall we call the Igbos in Lagos then - marauders sounds too lenient. Will have to come up with something stronger.

Mumu people.

They should be appeased within reason. No real reason to have 'em alienated, if this group actually represents their feelings.

Yoruba people should stop this habit of dominating Lagos as their land, the indigenous people like aworis should not let the large migration of yorubas dominate them, how can they allow Yoruba people dominate them in the first place? angry angry
Re: ‘ACN marginalising Lagos indigenes’ by koruji(m): 4:36am On Aug 07, 2011
Aworis are Yoruba - only in deluded minds are Awori supposed to see themselves any different from Yoruba.

Your illusions know no bounds.

The Awori are a tribe of the Yoruba people speaking a distinct dialect of the Yoruba language.
Traditionally, Awori are found in Ogun State and Lagos State, Nigeria. The Awori people migrated from Ile Ife and occupy present day Lagos state, with a comsiderable section of the Awori clan occupying areas within Ogun State as a direct fall out of the creation of Ogun State in 1976. Towns including Ota, Igbesa, Ilobi, Tigbo are all Awori settlements within today's Ogun State in Nigeria. The settlement of the Awori clan preceded the establishment of Abeokuta as an Egba kingdom in 1832, as Ota, the foremost Awori town within present day Ogun State was settled in the 15th century. The Awori are direct descendants of Olofin, one of the sons of Oduduwa - the father of the yoruba nation. As such, in accordance with Yoruba custom, they brought their crown along with them from Ile Ife. Osolo, one of the sons of Prince Olofin, settled at the Osi quarters as his father and his brother journeyed further south from the place where the plate sank at Idumota. The first crowned Oba at Ota was Oba Akinsewa Ogbolu in 1621, he was the son of Osolo.[1]

This matter doesn't really concern heebows. I don't see why you are wasting your time joining issues with them.

Lagos= Aworis, egun, ijebu lands. There is a big call for Ijebu state as we speak because of marginalization and the want to have a separate identity from yorubas.

very correct, also egba settlements are there

correct as well, this is politics and every admisnatration, all non indigenous yorubas in lagos starting from ekiti, offa, kabba to egun are represented in lagos admi. Now Tinubu has changed the balance of things

This struggle did not start today, It started 1999

In 1999, YCE decided to change things by Now allowing Indigenous Yorubas to rule lagos, thus Tinubu was elected thanks to the awori and egu agreeing to this.

In the agreement, Only yorubas should be allowed and no outsider

Tinubu broke this by putting and outer commissioner. This broke the camels back

Around 2007, The onikoyis (awori ikoyi and VI indigenes) did not like this, in the struggle, the leader die, and the first son of the place was meant to take the place ( I mean that is yoruba tradition of rulship)

Instead tinubu said the second son should be the ruler. when this was done, tinubu could raise the prices of lands in those areas. much to the disagreement of the indigenes

Now fashola is an awori and other yorubas from all other state are represented in his cabinet but what is paining them is that when any awori like bode george etc tries to control the politics of there state, and osun man like tinubu is queik to call them corupt

The real aworis don't mind this but Tinubu needs to appease there leaders or else he is breaking the code of conduct in their state.

ak47mann:

The indigenes awori allowed this, and they do not mind. Then awori is yoruba so what are you talking about

tell an awori man that he is NOT yoruba and see the way he will slap you wink

Onlytruth:

then what should WE DO TO THE IGBOS when we chase our brothers away

trust me it is not going to work, unless it works against YOU people.
Btw Lagos carbinet is not only SW yorubas, also NC and SS yorubaiod

yes the awori have NOT been screaming marginalization

but the eguns have because awori people are selling there land but that has be resolved now

But, didn't they sell their lands to outsiders for money, just like the mirror and whiskey story?

Indigenious Lagosians need the greater Yoruba population for strenght otherwise the Igbo's would have them for mince-meat. The Igbo population in Lagos is more than Indigenious Lagosians. The earlier they know this the wiser they would be when it comes to their "unwarranted utterrances."[/size]

also because we believe Lagos our state unites all yoruba clans. so all this population u are bring will not help u

lastly to all yorubas on this forum

DO NOT LET THIS PEOPLE FEED ON YOUR PARANOIA.

In lagos Igbos are a minority this is the reality but on the internet, they come here and talk rubbish

Or them ruling lagos, You yorubas should stop believing all you see on this internet

Leave us to handle them, If lagos has an igbo governor today and there is no genocide on igbos in lagos, then it means WE see progress in him and forget tribalism

lastly blame tinubu for this

Re: ‘ACN marginalising Lagos indigenes’ by AndreUweh(m): 9:36pm On Aug 08, 2011
The problem here is that those who have come from the Hinterland Western Nigeria to Lagos do claim Lagos as their own state of origin. Now the main indigenes have to suffer for this. Unlike in Port Harcourt where Ndigbo from the hinterland still maintain that they come from Mbaise, Mbano, Etiti, Umuahia , Owerri, Afikpo etc.
Anyway, let the best candidates be elected for every position in Lagos irrespective of him coming from Ijebu Egba, Mbaise, Nnewi, Etsako, Nupe etc.

What do you heebows want exactly? Is it Lagos you want? Well, go for it! but stop spreading propaganda among our people!

I am glad that we are waking up to your wickedness now. We are spreading the word, we are letting Yorubas far and near know of your ill wishes for our land and we'll fish you out. We will!
