In this forum and outside this forum, there is a sense of ethnic hatred among various tribes. How would you feel if you were perceived as a devious, violent, or immoral individual simply because you belong to a certain ethnic group? Surely, you would not be happy about it. Many who held on to such hatred actually profess belief in God and the Bible. And there are those who claim that racism is here to stay—a part of human nature. What does the Bible say?
The Law, God gave to the Israelites shows that he is not partial. On the contrary, he displays genuine concern for the welfare of all peoples, no matter the nation or tribe. At Leviticus 19:33, 34, we find the following compassionate command from God to the Israelites: “‘If a foreigner resides with you in your land, you must not mistreat him. The foreigner who resides with you should become to you like a native among you; and you must love him as yourself, for you were foreign residents in the land of Egypt. I am Jehovah your God." Obviously, Jehovah who created humans did not justify ethnic hatred. He insisted on ethnic harmony.
Christians in this forum(nairaland) do well to resist the urge to judge or insult others because of their ethnic background. Viewing people as individuals, the way God does, and not just as members of ethnic groups is just and loving. Is that not how YOU want to be viewed? Jesus Christ admonishes us: “All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must do to them.” (Matthew 7:12) Living without ethnic hatred for hausas, Igbos, yorubas or any other ethnic group will results in greater peace of mind and peace with others.
