Don’t bother arguing with those clowns. These are the real companies that helped to develop Lagos and the south west in general not Okrika, laptop, or spare parts business. They think too highly of themselves. All they do is buy and sell, nothing more. They are actually a net negative to the economy because all they do is simply importing finished goods (buy and sell/container economy). Importing alone drags down the GDP of the country. They don’t manufacture or export. GDP is derived from what you export versus what you import. All they do is import. Nothing more.

The sectors that generate the most taxes in Lagos are manufacturing, banking, telecoms, insurance, funds, finance, stock market, hospitality, health, fintech, data, betting, movie productions, online shopping, IT, entertainment etc. These are well structured businesses that contribute immensely to the economy, unlike those that only import and sell low grade imported/finished goods.

I'm very much aware of how tax is generated in Lagos, I have a friend who works at LIRS and you need to see how she laughs about ibo people's claim of paying the most tax.
It's like there's a curse following them which makes them boast so much.

Sure. We will gradually cut them to size in Lagos. It’s not about chest beating. I always tell them… the pen is mightier than the sword. I expect targeted policies to be put in place after the election next year to curb their over exuberance and excesses. They’ve always voted against our interest in Lagos and SW, so it’s time we put them in their place. We have tried to engage them but they always vote against us here even when we present a better candidate than theirs. You can’t be benefiting from the region whilst continuously sabotaging our efforts when it’s time to select our leaders. It’s pathetic considering they have been electing some of the worst leaders since 1999. Where’s the credibility to try to dictate to us here in SW who best to represent us when it’s there for all to see the useless leaders they have been electing since the return of democracy.

The LASG haven’t really targeted them all this while because they’ve actually been trying to engage them and seeking their support here. This election cycle has shown us the level of contempt, hatred and jealousy they have for us here in Lagos and SW, especially calling Lagos a “no mans land” so I feel the government is done trying to win them over. They will start to act in the best interest of our people.

A private company in partnership with LASG are already building a new computer village in kontangora. They will be kicked to the fringes. The ikeja area they operate is meant to be a residential area, plus we need to sanitize that axis, as they have made the place a complete mess and an eye sore. Blocked all the roads within the computer villages placing kiosks and wheel barrows on the road, thereby causing traffic around that area. It’s unsightly quite frankly.

The new location is far so no more easy accessibility they enjoy in that ikeja central location, which gives them a lot of patronage. People can as well get their computers and phones at shops in the ikeja city mall owned by Lebanese, Indians and other Nigerians. The price aren’t that far off each other to be honest. Plus when the move them even if they increase the price of the gadgets, it will still be in the same range as those at the mall and shopping complexes, plus the market forces such as location, profit margin etc will definitely come into place to bring down the price naturally because of less sales and competition from stores in more accessible locations. They will have to cut their profit in order to be competitive.

I also expect the Alaba market to be moved very soon. They’ll definitely move them to the fringes of Lagos or just simply close down the place. We need to sanitize our city. Whatever tax they pay is irrelevant. The people at the top are working on that. It’s about time we show them we no be their mate.

Dangote refinery, fertilizer, the lekki ports and so many more companies and taxes will be coming on stream anytime from now. So their irrelevant Alaba tax (that’s if they even pay taxes) is of no consequence. Dangote fertilizer already exported over $2b worth of fertilizer in the first half of this year. Now that’s a company that contributes immensely to the GDP of Lagos, SW and Nigeria. These are the types of companies/businesses we want in the SW not selling imported phones and spare parts. Why don't they presently term Abuja a no- man's land given the fact that Abuja was wholly conceived and built with Niger Delta money unlike Lagos which existed many years before the discovery of crude oil?
In actual fact about 95% of what you call Lagos today were in the Western Region when the industries and infrastructure in them were built by the Awolowo led Western Region government with Cocoa tax revenue when we were practising true federalism and resource control and that time the Niger Delta was majorly under the Eastern Region where Igbos sat on their wealth leading to the rebellion of Isaac Adaka Boro towards Niger Delta Republic declaration.
Then considering the fact that Awolowo, in 1953, moved a motion in the parliament that federal capital be shifted from Lagos to either the Northern or Eastern Region to enable Igbos too enjoy whatever special advantage Lagos Colony was assumed to be benefitting from that but Azikiwe and his fellow Igbos in the parliament killed the motion for fear of losing the premise on which they were mounting pressure on the colonial overlords to declare Lagos a no-man's-land; how then is it the fault of Yorubas that Lagos ended up purportedly being developed with Niger Delta revenue when Unitary system came courtesy of Aguiyi Ironsi an Igbo man again? Under true federalism, Federal Capita presence doesn't confer any special developmental advantage on any state or city hence in the US where there is true federalism, States like New York, California, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Texas, etc are far more developed than the District of Columbia which houses the Federal Capital. Now was it Yorubas that brought unitary system to Nigeria against our wish? Awolowo's conviction that with the true federalism in force then, neither Lagos nor anywhere else in Yorubaland needed federal capital status to develop was what made him push for the transfer of federal capital away from the entire Western Region to either of the other two regions. So why didn't Igbos grab the opportunity then if they were genuinely convinced that federal capital is a developmental advantage under pure federalism?
Yorubas have every moral right and authority to remind you that Lagos is their ancestral land. They didn't beg you to impose on them the unitary system which you think gave them the advantage over other states. In fact their overall leader Awolowo hated unitary system with a passion and wrote loads of books on why Nigeria must never experiment with it. He rejected federal capital but Igbos forced it down his throat. So how do you blame them for the negative consequences of what they disliked and tried all their best to prevent from happening? Put yourself in their shoes and see if you will accept exactly the kind of blame you are currently dishing out to them.

Igbos have also recorded problems in the other SW states you mentioned. Right now there are Igbos voted into the House of Representatives to represent some Lagos constituencies. Can same be said of any of the five Igbo states in terms of role reversal?
