This is false and misleading.

So tests are not just taken at community level and multiplied.
Tests have to be recorded in facility register, along with lab register, all these will be subject to confirmation tests and verification.

Are there bad practices? Probably but there are many measures but in check to counter them hence the multiple level of documentation.

We like to talk down on anything Nigeria but somebody just comes makes claims with zero evidence and fiam front page.

The analysis is not the problem.
The collection is. I have actually witnessed Field Officers of an organization manufacturing data out in the field. Sadly, the analyst would only work with what they submit and the results would be used for decision-making. It's sad.
I would blame those who collect data and submit such to the analyst.

All data is supposed to be sourced from the National Bureau of Statistics not from any mushroom NGO.

The National Bureau of Statistics unfortunately depends on these NGO’s and estimates for their data.

Naija na real joke and its because we never had a serious leader who would create a serious leadership systems.

What makes you think the ones from the Bureau is not even worse?

Reminds me of those days when you are given a brand new salon car to get some data up country and all you do is lodge in hotel at the govt expense, come up with some data, submit and pronto your promotion is as sure as Lai Mohammed lying whenever he speaks.

How do you think the NBS "generates" its statistics?

Also, do you think it's every aspect or endeavour that the NBS "generates" stats on?

90% of NGOs and motherless babies home in Nigeria was set up for personal interest/gain.

Most of them uses this organisations to receive stolen funds or covert items or goods donated at freewill into cash.

They is why when ever i visit, i don't give cash and make sure that the food items i bring have dent, so they can't resell it.
Bros, how come the kids there will make use of the food items that have dents

Insincerity, greed and lack of empathy. A lot of people believe they need to live by these negative attributes to make it.

As for the NGOs, it doesn't just affect mushroom ones, as there may be a few that may genuinely want to make a difference.

In this our Nigeria, even well-recognized international agencies have been stained with this putrid culture of corruption.

The journalist dwelled on a little aspect regarding operations. Do you even have an idea how recruitment is done, especially when the process is to be overseen by our Nigerians?
Just go compare it with other 3rd world Countries eg Brazil, Gambia, etc then you may be able to identify one of the root causes of their ineffectiveness in this environment.

The 'NGO' he is talking about may be FHI 360, AHNI or such. They also generate data from their workers who are stationed in the health facilities and on the field

HIV was the wrong example for this kind of drama. And your friend gave you beer parlour gossip

What you dont know is for every dollar reputable program gets the equivalent is spent for cross checking data

So for every 10 naira you get to work you can be sure someone is spending another 5 naira to check your data. It's called Data quality assurance

Why don't you find out what goes into HIV data quality assurance in Nigeria and come back to the topic after.

Corruption present in every aspect of our society.

How can we fault government for being a bigger corruption-enabling entity??

God help us in this country.

Thank you and this is the just the pure truth... We said we want government to make Nigeria look like UK but we throw dirty on the ground without caring... We inflate price of things from greed and we blame government for the inflation and many other things... But the more we change mentally the more better we can hold government accountable...
Do you know NIN which is free are being sold hiddenly by civil servant... On the form it was written this form is not to be sold and when I said I won't pay a dime they told me I am not ready for the NIN... Imagine but yet we blame government...
We are the problem of this nation... When we get our selves in oder then we can talk about how disorder some other people are.

I work in an infectious disease clinic an NGO sponsored clinic in a federal government hospital. We manage patients with HIV, TB, Hepatitis, Covid etc.

The rate at which fake data are thrown around you'll be marvel to know that even government officials at the Ministry of Health are in line with these dubious NGO's guys to get more funds from their funders thereby casting Nigeria & Nigerians in bad light.

Theres something fundamentally wrong with Nigerians and Africans. Every occasion is an avenue for criminality without minding the consequences. Greed and avarice is the order of the day.

The level at which data is meddled with is also the reason no one takes official Nigerian government data seriously, example Census. Most atimes, people just sit in their offices and project figures which they publish as data.

Nah
There's something wrong with the incentive system
