The police is your friend when they hope to get something from you. You see, trouble is, many of the rnembers of the pf are those who had been a nuisance to their communities & were got rid of by 'sending' them to join the police.

I was once in that shoe. I was driving golf 3 and the guys stopped me, after checking all my documents one of them just opened his mouth and said "where is your hackney permit", honestly that the first time I will hear of that document but my number 6 told me the meaning of hackney and I replied "Do I look like a commerical driver ? And that ends the conversation. At times you have to be frank with these policemen while driving. If they see your face they will be afraid to deal with you in an illegal manner.

I think Uber or Bolt drivers are required to have the Hackney permit as long as you have commercialised your vehicle in any form.

To simply put it, the Hackney Permit is simply a license for vehicles below a certain weight category to carry goods within a state.

Also, vehicles on ride-hailing platforms must possess hackney permits issued by the Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency and must be fitted with a corresponding tag.

The Lagos State government has said that it is compulsory for commercial vehicles and commercial motorcyclists in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, to obtain hackney permits before they can operate in the state.

Some few years back a police officer asked me why I registered my vehicle papers in Edo state instead of Abuja as my car has Abuja plate numbers.

I simply told him to go to Benin and ask the licensing office why they renewed vehicle papers with Abuja plate numbers.

They're looking for all means to extort drives to them once you're behind the wheel you must drop bribe or "you'll regret it"
