The parable of the Talents - Lagos Vs. Anambra!

"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free"

I have decided to lay before all Nigerians the TRUTH by making a comparative performance analysis of Lagos & Anambra using key development index.

Walk with me

The famous biblical parable of the talents is one i love so much cos its lessons can be taught by all generations.

This is the first of a 3 parts comparative performance analysis series;

Did I hear u say, oh Mr Ay, its unfair to compare Lagos state with Anambra,well u maybe right, after all why would anyone compare;

Lagos the Toast of Africa - from the Portuguese, to the British, to the locals & Nigeria as a whole, everyone just want her

&

Anambra the state left in ruins after the civil war (imagine what's happening in Ukraine currently)

However, like the lessons taught in the parable of the talents, u still have to be accountable with the little u have, if u want to be entrusted with more.

So here we will be looking at the performance of BAT (2003-2007), PO (2007-2014) using key development indicators

Disclaimer: This thread is not for;

1.) Blockheads - If you are not teachable, just pass

2.) IGR boys - If ur understanding of development economics is IGR please pass. This is above ur pay grade

Everything i will be sharing are verifiable facts from verifiable sources.

Below are growth indicators often used by development economist to access low-middle income countries hence we will be using it here

1.) Gross National Income per Capita
2.) Life Expectancy
3.) Human Development Index (HDI)
4.) Health Index
5.) Educational Index
6.) Income Index

My data source is from the renowned Global Data Lab (GDL) - an independent data & research center at the institute of Management research, Radboud University, Netherlands
https://globaldatalab.org
GDL started compiling data from 2003, hence BAT's Performance is evaluated from 2003.

1.) Global National Income Per Capita

BAT(2003-2007): In 2003 at 8.887 & in 2007 at 9.218. Had a growth of 3.72%

Anambra(2007-2014): In 2007 at 8.823 & in 2014 at 9.220. Had a growth of 4.50% ✅

Anambra(2007-2014): In 2007 at 0.637 & in 2014 at 0.697. Had a growth of 9.42% ✅

From the above 6 indicators used in measuring public governance performance in low-middle income country, PO outperformed lagos of Fashola & BAT in ALL

Factoring IGR, investments in lagos since colonial days & the civil war, its safe to say Peter Obi is in a league on his own

So comparing Lagos with Anambra in terms of the globally accepted developmental indicators is an INSULT to Anambra state & the leadership of Peter Obi.

As if that were not enough, let's look at the departing gift Peter Obi presented to Anambra state & BAT to Lagos state

To proof that his education at Harvard Business School, Kellog School of Management, Oxford & Cambridge weren't just for fun, PO in his handover note left local & foreign investment savings in billions of Naira & cash savings for the state as can be seen & verified.

No other Governor since inception of democracy can tie Obi's shoes in terms of delivering real development to his people.

Lol. Anambra was left in ruins after civil war?. Abeg show us the images of Anambra in ruins, let's see the pictures of infrastructures, buildings, schools, etc that were completely bombed to ruins. Enough of lies and propaganda.
It is also on record that the federal allocations of each state of SE region for the civil war period was paid in full. .
Secondly, if IGR is not as important, Soludo wouldn't have had to go borrow 100billion in his first 100days in office.
More shamefully, Obi left Anambra state poorer than he met it, increasing poverty rate from 20% to 68% while Tinubu grew the economy of Lagos to becoming the fifth largest in Africa admist FG withholding the state's LG allocations.
No matter how hard you try to exaggerate incompetence or package a fraud, you can't possibly lie your way to power.

In your delusion, IGR is not an important parameter of a developing or developed state?. How can you drive infrastructures without generating revenue, how can you generate revenue without increase in GDP and how would you increase the GDP without attracting investors to the state?
Pls, focus on your 2×2 and leave economics for those with the brain capacity.

It is only a dunce that will pick someone who cannot solve erosion issue for 8years over someone who did not only solve sea surge problem but turned the problem into a multibillion investment for his state.

When you ask them to compare infrastructures in Anambra and Lagos the would claim Lagos is former capital and Anambra is poorer compared to Lagos.
How can someone who can not add value to a poor state add value to a country that is already poor.

Nigeria doesn't need trial by error, Nigeria need tested and trusted leader in the person of Asiwaju Jagaban

I did not write the globally accepted standard measurement of development. There is standard for these things. The world do not operate the agbado standard of quasi economics where how much you steal from the people is used to blindfold the gullible as growth.

Development is measured in terms of human impact. Eg. Peter Obi met Anambra when the average age people can live is 53 years. By the time he left office he increased it to 58 years. Now that is how it works. He didn't to tax ndi Anambra to death to increase their life expectancy.

With low Igr, Peter Obi gave his people a better life expectancy than Tinubu and Fashola put together.

Oga Ade removes the numbers of Anambra people and others from the East that fled that region to seek refuge and greener pasture in Lagos from your data. Invariably when you remove the influx of people with no economic value to the state within the time frame you'll discover that Obi should be taken to the village square and given 120 strokes of cane

Are we talking about same Obi under whose regime Doctors went on a 13 month strike?. How many hospitals did he build and how much free medical services did he initiate?
The Secondary School Education improvement in Anambra was as a result of handing over the schools to the Missions which Tinubu and Fashola had earlier done in Lagos.
Stop glorifying a fraud that has nothing to show as a Governor, Ngige and Obiano were far better in terms of infrastructures.

He did not mention to his mostly hate-filled and bigoted followers that our funds were withheld by the Federal Government and was returned, without interest, in 2007 by late President Yardua. The returned fund was N10 billion even though we expected our funds to be around N33 billion.

He did not know how we suffered while the FG was punishing Lagos. He, like most of his ilk/folks/followers who are not from Lagos or had never stepped foot in Lagos or resident in Lagos and integrated in Lagos affairs long enough to be knowledgeable on Lagos affairs, was probably not in Lagos then or did not feel the pain we experienced.

I will let the other inaccurate claims made against Lagos rest because the twitter guy inputed same disputed and controversial figures in his phoney calculations.

you are a criminal that ibos are known for.....you are using 1 term yardstick for Lagos 2003 - 2007,and you are using a yardstick of 2 term for ananbra 2007 - 2014
Mean while Lagos under bat was from 1999-2007.....you are a shame to ibo... South west people....we are the most educated in Nigeria so you can't easily do this nonsense analysis and get a cheap score.....foolish ibo person

It is a deliberate attempt to achieve their failed objective, using different timeframe is enough ground to throw the rubbish research work into Awkuzu river

" Obiano inherited no debt from me"

-HE Obi .

"I inherited N127 billion debt from Obi"

- HE Obiano, Obi's successor.

" Obiano inherited N185 billion from Obi"

-Senator Umeh.

I am not a specialist in Anambra affairs but these numbers are confusing, misleading and outrightly do not add up when 3 notable authorities on Anambra affairs and now this twitter guy all give different numbers. Who is the liar among the?

I believe that someone is not telling the truth. I do not know who it is but there is one with a percieved notoriety of making false claims in the public when I dug further. That one out of the 4 is HE Obi

Your obfuscation is not needed at this time. The question at this point is, between BAT and Peter Obi who improved the lives of their people better?

The hard cold facts favours Obi.

I am not interested in gossips. Obi's handover notes is in public domain.
