The most annoying one is the claim of only one working ambulance in the whole of Lagos when Tinubu took over. What a fallacy as attested to by many who were then or still in health sector now. Imagine a Kanuri man doling out revisionist history of Lagos.
The other time it was Jubrin who has now defected to Kwankwaso party claiming Tinubu is a major shareholder in Man United.

Always shouting and overhyping Tinubu with Lagos economy as if all depends on him. See as their lies were woefully punctured left right & centre. They campaigned with lies and propaganda in 2015 yet failed woefully after more than 7 years.

It won't work for them this time around except if the electorate wants another 4-8 year of more misery and suffering. ...Never again will anybody become Nigeria’s President through fake and unsubstantiated packaging.”

It can be painful because "a lie told repeatedly can be assumed to be the truth" as said. Meanwhile, did you read that; "According to CBN data quoted by a journal published in the Research Academy of Social Sciences, Lagos recorded annual IGR of N14.6 billion in 1999, representing a monthly average of N1.2 billion. This is against the N700m quoted by Shettima and the N600m widely circulated in the media.

That guy just explained that presently, lagos is the 16th largest economy in africa if it were taken to be a country. And that it's the 4th largest state in terms of GPD, but may even be in practice poorer as it has more mouths to feed.

Guys that calculation that Cairo is $212B, Johannesburg is $131B and making Lagos 4th is not GDP calculation. It is wealth calculation per cities. It's different from GDP.

We need to be educated on this

Wealth calculation per city in Africa is calculated based on assets in the city, wealth of people in the city etc.
It's different from economic output through goods and service trading that GDP represents

Please let us all go and research this.

Presently Lagos GDP is around appr $150B and that's the largest in Africa for a city.

The reason why they normally say if Lagos were a country it would ne number 7 or 5 or 4 is because of the GDP ranking of countries in Africa.

Please be guided.

Cairo with a GDP of $212 billion was the biggest city economy in Africa followed by Johannesburg ($131 billion) and Cape Town ($121 billion).

Good morning to zombies. Work dey here

These figures here are not GDP figures but wealth calculation of African cities. Please research it very well.

The wealth calculation of city includes assets, wealth of rich people etc.

GDP is economic output through goods and services.

Lagos GDP is around $150B now.

It's not GDP

Personally wealthiest is different from richest.

Wealthiest city in Africa is Johannesburg based on wealth in the city

Richest city in Africa is Lagos based on the GDP of the city

This is a problem of definition of the meanings of BIGGEST and LARGEST.
Largest economy is different from Biggest economy.

Nigeria has the second largest film industry after Bollywood of India and ahead of Hollywood of America. But Nigeria is not among the top 10 biggest film industries in the world.
South Africa has the biggest film industry in Africa.

The largest economy means the largest market and indeed, Lagos has the largest economy in Africa, but the 4th biggest economy on the continent.

Really?

Well, go and argue with the Lagos Bureau of Statistics. The Cable got that info from Lagos Bureau of Statistics. According to World Bank info on GDP, Lagos is around 11 in Africa.

Well, to not even debate the semantics, the question is, was it Tinubu that made Lagos fourth biggest economy in Africa? Certainly not!!

If your good for nothing haggard looking mad woman you call mother have taken time out to nurture your miserable life you will not be anticipating that someone must come to power before any of your lineage can achieve anything meaningful , better braze up because Nigeria is not getting out of this shit in a decade to come less you leave this planet as your kinsmen did

1. JOHANNESBURG (SOUTH AFRICA): $276 BILLION
Fittingly, Africa’s richest city was built on gold – on the Witwatersrand Gold Rush of 1886, to be exact. It’s the commercial capital of South Africa and the wider region.

2. CAPE TOWN (SOUTH AFRICA): $155 BILLION
The city with Africa’s highest prime residential rates, at around $6,100 per square metre (similar to DC or Berlin) also is an important hub for financial services, retail and tourism.

3. CAIRO (EGYPT): $140 BILLION
Real estate, financial services and construction are some of the key sectors in this city of 9 million, the biggest metropolis in the Middle East.

4. LAGOS (NIGERIA): $108 BILLION
It may no longer be the country’s capital, Lagos still is the gateway for 80% of Nigeria’s exports – and the centre of the burgeoning film industry, a.k.a. Nollywood. At 21 million inhabitants (2016 est.), it’s Africa’s largest metropolis, as well as one of the world’s fastest-growing cities.

5. DURBAN (SOUTH AFRICA): $55 BILLION
Subtropical Durban is South Africa’s third-biggest city (after Johannesburg and Cape Town), second-biggest manufacturing hub and biggest port, as well as a major tourist destination. Durban’s Gateway Theatre of Shopping is Africa’s biggest mall. It has 12,000 parking slots, 390 stores, 90 restaurants, more than a dozen movie theatres (including an IMAX theatre), a skate park designed by Tony Hawk, and the highest fountain in Africa.

The IGR fact check is clearly flawed. Tinubu became the Governor of Lagos State officially for the first term on May 29, 1999. He therefore was at the helm of affairs for 7 months in 1999. To use the total tax generated in the year and the resulting monthly average as a basis to establish the monthly tax generated before Tinubu took over is clearly faulty. Using the 1998 total tax and resulting average is a better way to establish the average monthly tax generated before Tinubu took over.

Was an ultimately poor presentation
He was the only panelist who was using such pseudonyms like city boy to refer to his principal. Not only that, I caught him speaking pidgin twice in his speech. I think for a moment he thought he was speaking to agbero boys in Mushin and not learned gentlemen of the bar.
That performance was easily forgettable

It's the No 2 for me though. I always knew that claim of 600m was a big lie. Lagos has always been a rich state. Besides, all the claim of making Lagos 3,4 or 5th biggest economy in Africa is hogwash given the fact that it was not that Tinubu did anything or introduce any policy that grew Lagos economy. Lagos economy grew as the economy of the country as a whole grew. During OBJ era, GDP growth rate was around 7% and it was due to some very brilliant policies of the fg such as privatisation of telecoms sector as well as banks recapitalisation, and payment of foreign debt which helped budgets to be spent on the country and less on debt servicing. Also the oil price increase helped the economy then by increasing our foreign reserve and even created ECA.

100% True.

You just took the words out of my mouth.

Everybody knows lagos as the commercial capital of Nigeria, so increase in the economy of Nigeria would directly increase the economy of lagos the most.

The Reforms of the FG under Obasanjo made lagos and not the druggie.
