The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted bail to the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo.

Oluomo was arrested by the anti-graft agency over alleged financial impropriety.

The Speaker was apprehended by operatives of the commission at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos State.

His arrest was after he allegedly refused to honour several invites sent to him by the agency.

It was learnt that Oluomo was airlifted to Abuja after his arrest in Lagos on Thursday.

But, the Speaker had returned to his Ifo residence as of Saturday morning.

The Speaker’s media aide, Abdulgafar Adeleye, confirmed to newsmen that the Speaker returned home on Saturday morning.

It was gathered that some leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ifo organized a praise and worship session to celebrate Oluomo’s release.

“I am there as we speak. An unplanned praise and worship was held earlier today by his supporters and the leadership of CAN in Ifo local government,” Mr Adeleye said.

Our correspondent reports that the residence of the Speaker turned into a Mecca of sorts as well-wishers thronged the place to show solidarity with him.

What the Bleep is CAN organising a prayer session for a suspected looter? Why not allow the criminal prosecution to be completed first? So politised CAN is giving him backup? Screwed country.

It was gathered that some leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ifo organized a praise and worship session to celebrate Oluomo’s release.
Wonderful! So, a man was arrested for corruption allegations. And he was only arrested after failing to honor several invitations sent to him. And upon his release on bail, CAN..... As in, Christian association of Nigeria. Christian organization of Nigeria o. Not Corruption Association of Nigeria organized a praise and worship session to celebrate his release. Simply wonderful!

I'm a Christian but why is CAN members praising someone accused of financial misappropriation? Why?
If this were to be muslim body doing this, the internet would have been on fire with different insults here and there. Hypocrisy as finished this country

This headline reads like a cheap propaganda ploy to discredit CAN (I have seen an increase in this and ASUU-discrediting headlines in the past few weeks).


The leadership of CAN in IFO local government (so a local town branch, whose leader no one knows) is announced by the speaker's aide to be organizing a praise session alongside his supporters BUT this headline will have you think that CAN, the national Christain body is the one in charge of this praise session.

Looks like Buhari/Tinubu's team have hired professional propagandists for the election, so be ready for more misleading headlines and write-ups in the coming months

What CAN can not do doesn't exist

The leadership of CAN in that LG should be dissolved immediately!

However they seems to have taken after the National body maybe there'll be a change with the new leadership Sha.
