tpia@:

i want to see how it will affect the nigerian market and also how stuff like copyrights, etc will be handled because currently artistic output is unregulated.

so how will they make a profit when piracy is the order of the day.

will like to know how it goes.

Lol, there is piracy everywhere, even in America and UK, and it more high-tech ways too, which means musicians lose more money in UK/US than they could ever hope to lose from pirating Nigerians tongue. Besides, Nigerian-based folks will be more interested in purchasing foreign music on iTunes than the Nigerian music which they can easily find at their bus stop tongue tongue. Anyway, I hope the Copyrights Commission in Nigeria or which ever governmental body is behind this delay should fix it cos it looks really weird with no music on sale on iTunes grin grin grin - like, what's the point then??

[n3rve]:

LoL! I own the iPhone 4 (currently tethering with MyWi), the iPad 2 (4.3.3, jailbroken) and a MacBook Air 3,1 (10.6, SE, yeah I'm outdated tongue). I'm an avid Apple fan. I listen to a whole lot of music, hell my iTunes library's current reading is: "26591 Songs, 146.7 days, 112.76GB" (none purchased on iTunes). I have hundreds of applications for my iDevices, but I rarely use the App Store, but for .IPAs unavailable at AppTrackr/Installous (XE Currency Converter, Google Latitude, iBooks to name a few) I fall back on good ol' iTunes.

As regards features that make your listening experience worthwhile, I fail to see what iTunes offers that the other mainstream music players don't, mind educating me? (Don't mention PING tongue)
Correction: The iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad is far from a shell without iTunes. I'm also a Linux user, On my old iPhone 3Gs, I used my Mac only to update/restore/jailbreak the phone. The other stuff, I used RhythmBox to sync music, transferred apps (.IPAs / .DEBs) to the Installous/Cydia install directories using OpenSSH and something else which I can't remember for photos. I used the iPhone beyond iTunes capabilities even! tongue

-[n3rve]

That's cool, nice. Well, iTunes music has a lot of things going for it, apart from Genius or even Ping. I just think you'll enjoy your iPhone/iPod when you use iTunes apps than the way you get your own apps grin grin. I have loads of music too, only 10% of my songs are purchased from iTunes, the others were downloaded from the web or from my CDS. But it's really weird you're not into iTunes with all your know-how smiley. It's a really fun place!

shadrach77: this is very silly! how did it make it to the front page?  shocked shocked - itunes is an international organisation and has always been available to all countries including Nigeria - just because you (the poster) was not aware of this does not negate the fact - moreso, there are several Nigerian artistes on itunes including Paul Dairo, King Sunny Ade, 9ice, Femi Kuti, Tosin Martins etc.  angry angry cool

Mr before you go around insulting people make sure you know what you're talking about. Before this was posted, had you been able to download any music from these artistes you mentioned on the iTunes store? had you been able to download anything at all without using a fake US account?

omafones: As many of you now know Apple has finally recognized Nigeria in their iTunes Store.

I have now registered for iTunes in Nigeria, using my Nigerian address, email address and a Nigerian registered visa debit card. i have even bought a .99c app using my Nigerian debit card - took only a few minutes.

However I don't seem to be able to find any music for sale. There are loads of books, there Nigerian themed apps and other more traditional apps, but i can't find any music. Even when i search my the name of the artist all i get is books or apps about the artist, no music and neither are there any films.

Am I missing something here? has anyone out there used the Nigerian iTunes? what is your experience.

tried using my diamond bank debit card to register, but it didnt work sad

There is Apple's restriction to download apps above 20mb over cellular data connection, except wifi connection.

But no restriction if your device is jailbroken and you install my3g or 3g Unrestrictor.

I can download game of 1g size with my jailbroken iPhone 4S over cellular connection. grin grin grin

I didn't stop the conversation, I only ask you to call me that I don't have time to reply emails. And you know what? I don't have to tell you I'm honest until you test me and prove it to yourself. If you really need the iTunes account, do what I asked you to do and see whether you won't get it instanta.
