Should Churches Invite Gospel Musicians To Come And Sing With Payment? by MasterJayJay: 1:11pm On Sep 11, 2022
Few months ago, a pastor told the congregation that he will invite some gospel musicians to come and sing. The congregation rejoiced when the pastor mentioned the names of gospel musicians.

Recently, the pastor made an announcement. He told the congregation that one of the gospel musician is charging 5 million naira for the invitation. The congregation started grumbling. That was when it dawned on them that they were the ones that would probably sponsor the invitation.

The pastor couldn't go further for donations became it was obvious. No one will drop any money for such. Many of them actually thought he had some friendship with the musicians, hence they never thought it will cost them this much.

Gospel musicians are free to make money on the regular platforms. But I think if Jesus will step into those churches paying gospel musicians to come and sing, he will flog those pastors.

The bible says a laborer is worth his wages so musician and artist who perform in churches should be paid. And secondly, it is not mandatory for a church to invite expensive gospel musicians who are only performing for the sake of money .

Labourer? That's an adulteration of the word 'Labourer' within the church context.

When I go to church and the pastor mentions the hymn that we should sing. Why don't the congregation get paid for singing hymns?

There is nothing like adulteration biko. Open to the book of Kings and Nehemiah and see how people were paid for their services to building in the house of the Lord.

Secondly, members of a church do not always request for payment because they willingly offer their services from their own freewill. An outsider who comes into the church is not under the same obligation and can demand for payment for his skills . After all, do you not pay for laborers who come and build your church? grin
