Normal thing to dey do sometimes. Most government workers are very lazy and not diligent with their works, you see some of them coming to their offices by 12pm and leave by 2pm, most won't even come to place of work on Friday. The most lazy of them all are the one working in local government.
....it is the same workers that will be complaining of non payment of salary and pensions

You Gerrit, you will see them shouting when the Govt doesn't pay them. Some civil servant has no specific job they are doing, but collecting steady salary.

Good riddance but to fight corruption you have to come with clean hand.

Take note of this, no any Governor would do this in their first 4 years tenure because they need their vote for second tenure.

The governor of Borno did it in his first tenure

Any dear, I know someone that he's working in one local government in Bayelsa, over 9month now, he as not go to work and he always earn salary.

So Nigeria problem is beyond president.

Average Nigerian man is corrupt, not just the government. How can you not go to your place of work for a long time and be collecting salary. It's very wrong na.

Nice one, they should be coming on time.

But anyday the governor comes late, he should be locked out too.

Fair is fair.
No Mind am... Him just wan show himself. Lukwarm attitudes and lackadaisical approach to work has always been a major pattern and regular behaviour in the civil service around cross river and Nigeria at large. Can he go to other agencies and commissions under his control to do same?
E just enter him body And baba wan show himself....

Civil servants in Nigeria are a breed of another dimension, funny thing its contagious once you join.

Submit an application before them they will frustrate that application till you do the necessary things, (police ppl call their own lodger or bribe) theirs is appreciation.

Just locking out?

Sack them already! This is how corruption is passed from them to the ogas at the top
please have small sense na, haven't you been late to work before? If your father or mother or brother or sister was among them will you still want them all to be sacked?

The locking out will firstly be the warning sign before any further action.

Civil servants always come late , including that hobbit governor.
Why is so interested in coming early to work now? He is going out in a few months time.

This is not how to deal with lateness. There should be policies regarding lateness to work.
Best approach is to reduce their pay and serve a warning letter. If it continues, they get suspended then a sack follows after suspension. Locking them out is pure eye service to give the impression that Ayade is working. It solves no issues. It gives little to no deterrent.
Our administrators in this country are inexperienced.

Lazy drones, most Nigerian civil servants have poor work ethics they are only interested in salaries but not work.I have come across a good number of them, the way they attend to you in their offices and even treat you mails are appalling.Nigerian civil service system needs a total overhauling.

He who seeks justice must come with clean hands.

When you are owing them salaries, where is the motivation for them to come to work on time,
or do you even know how they manage to come to work if they have to trek for hours before they could arrive at their offices

People who rush to commence rubbish here would be later than these people if they were in these peoples' shoes.

The Governor should pay their salaries regularly and as when due before embarking on this public show,
else his public show is a show of shame.
