Ogun to embark on massive low cost housing scheme

Written by Olayinka Olukoya, Abeokuta

AS part of effort to fulfil its electoral promises, Ogun State government has expressed its readiness to embark on massive low cost housing scheme to cater for the low income earners in the state.

The state Commissioner for Housing, Mr Daniel Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement by the ministry’s information officer, Miss Seun Oyelade, that state government was committed to the provision of affordable and quality houses for its teeming populace.

Adejobi, who was on tour of existing housing estates in Abeokuta, on Monday, noted that civil servants, low income earners, as well as the people at the grass roots would benefit from the housing scheme.

The commissioner maintained that his ministry was poised towards systematic and orderly development of the state through management of land resources and provision of mass housing units for the citizenry.

Adejobi said “'By the special grace of God, our people will know that the Senator Amosun-led government is out to please them on the provision of houses and we will put resources together to make the housing sector work.

"Government will ensure improvement in the development of the housing sector structurally in order to meet the housing needs and demands of the populace."

Sule Lamido came up with (and implemented) a pretty cool plan in which he leveraged some FG mortgage board to provide housing loans for civil servants.

Pictures of it were posted earlier. . . quite beautiful stuff. Ajimobi'd do well to see if he can secure FG mortgages as well.

let them swing into action and we see what they want to,

How are they "not serious"? Is it not time some of us learn our civic roles as responsible citizens in the equation of nationhood that must be balanced? You think this blanket condemnation helps anything? Was it the ACN that delivered " failed promises" to you? We should educate ourselves better about our leaders , and politics in general, so that we can encourage and support those who are doing well. That is what responsible citizens do.
