The betting shops don't force people to go in it. This whole thing is by choice and then addiction. Just like it is someone's choice to start doing drugs and then they get addicted to it, but still, not every person gets addicted.

Has the government created other means for people to make money? The situation of the country has pushed many people into it who normally wouldn't have.

UK, US and Canada did not ban betting and their economy is growing that they have too many jobs around. The government should regulate and not ban it cos people make a living in those bet. On the mother that left her son on betting shop as collateral, it show she is a looser all round and deserves to be locked up. There are people who leave their children inside car and go inside a club to go have fun but when they are done, jail is certain.
