To start with there are two types of marriage that are legally recognized in Nigeria: Traditional marriage and Statutory marriage. 1 Traditional marriage requires the meeting of the two families on marriage matters.The groom will pay the bride price and bring the dowry of the wife. During this process the father of the bride will hand over the wife to the groom's family. That ends the Traditional marriage. It is not necessary to document it at the local government. 2 Statutory marriage. This is also called Marriage according to the Marriage Act.This involves filing of Notice of Marriage. After 21 days you get Marriage License and you consumate it by taking oath of marriage and issuance of marriage certificate. Form E Traditional marriage can be terminated at the Customary court while Statutory marriage can be dissolved at the Federal High Court. Pls note that some religious centers have had approval from the federal government to carry out Statutory marriages. Remember that Introduction alone is not a marriage..Marriage License is not an evidence of marriage.Notice of Marriage Form is not an evidence of marriage. Marriage is older than man and it took place long before men started playing God by directing and instructiing, how they (men) think that a marriage should be done or not be done or what is marriage and what is not marriage, hence the creation of legal!

I respect everybody opinion on marriage but the truth is statutory marriage is tecious: You file notice with money after 21 days you can go ahead with the wedding. You look for witnesses and all the related activities. Somebody who takes a woman home without any rituals may be happy with it.However certificates are presented at the embassies not natural laws. In order to on a safer side that is why many people combine traditional marriage with the statutory marriage!

You don't need any registration after the bride has been handded over. However some still go for registration for ducumentation purpose at the local government. 2 A statutory marriage involves registration and documentation from the beging to the end: Form A Notice of Marriage, Form C Martiage Lisence and Form E. Certificate of Marriage. It is this Certificate of Marriage that the couple will show as an evidence of marriage.It must be duly signed by the couple and their witnesses!

Sir what I said is TM does not require documentation although some do it.On the other hand ST requires papers / documentation to make the process complete 2 If a person aporoches me and claims he is married traditionally . If I see pics I will belive him but embassies will not belive him until they see a document on the Martiage. That is why some people prefer ST to TM in order to avoid the rigors of questions .NYSC also prefers ST as an evidence of marriage when posting married corpers!

You are supposed to believe them in the absence of any reasonable ground for disbelieving such a fact. That is what The Natural Law of Evidence Said and even your legal evidence act also said so.

Embassies are just exercising their Natural Right of doing shakara since it is their nature given territory which they have naturally been taking care of which a visitor/migrator wishes to enter.

So they have a right to scrutinize your entry since people are known to be wicked and evil, therefore they can place stumbling blocks in a migrant's way.

But they also have the right to grant you entry to their land even without any document, as you have seen them do.
