Don't you think with the way Africa and particularly Nigeria are set up, democracy cannot take us to the promised land? I personally have lots of beef with a multiparty democracy system, especially for multi-ethnic countries. It will eventually lead to a cesspit, divided political atmosphere as we have in Nigeria.

I think a single-party, centralized, meritocratic model like we have in Singapore or China, where the leaders are not disturbed by four-year power struggles, and work tirelessly can take us there. Or else, another party wins and destroys what the previous party has been working on, and of course, passes off the responsibilities of their failure to the previous administration.

Good day brother

I am going to tell you the truth and nothing but the truth even though you may not like it.

Unfortunately, what you suggested is the very thing that have us in this situation that we find ourselves today.

China can afford to do what you suggested because they evolved as a homogenous society with one language. And they've been that way for thousands of years. So, definitely a one-party state would work for them because it's second to nature for them.

Why would they want anything but a one-party state? Certainly, a one-party state would be the next natural thing for them since the society already evolved being homogeneous.

But in the case of Africa, our societies evolved heterogeneously as small nations (now called ethnic groups) speaking different languages.

Our ancestors didn't create a homogeneous society like China, instead, again, our ancestors created heterogeneous small countries (now called ethnic groups) which worked for us before the unfortunate arrival of Europeans.

It means that heterogeneity is our natural inclination as Africans. We as Africans work best when we work in small groups that contribute power to a central point. WHICH IS INDEED WHAT CHINA DOES FROM DIFFERENT DISTRICTS EVEN AS A HOMOGENEOUS SOCIETY.

When people work in smaller units and contribute to a central point, they work more efficiently. The US is a good example. That's the best way things should work!

If we practice TRUE federalism in Nigeria, we would get the same result. We would become more productive and would even live in peace.

Things work best when there's what Adam Smith described as "division of labour."

For Nigeria to become great, the different components (geographical regions not ethnic groups per se) that make up Nigeria must first recognize themselves as distinct people doing their own thing their own way. We must first acknowledge the reality that we're not one, and then agree that we want to be one. And finally agree in a brand new constitution how we want to co-exist as a true federal state.

Every region should go ahead and make their own laws, worship their own Gods, speak their own language, run their electric generation, run their system of education, etc. Then contribute to the central as one. That's when the Nigerian society would be next to natural and it would work.

And that's the most natural thing that would work for us as Africans, in line with the philosophy of our ancestors on how a group should exist. When that happens, competition would lead to giant strides in every region and we'll be better off.

We are not Chinese people and should not labor ourselves trying to create a homogeneous Chinese society in Africa. It won't work because that's not the type of people we are naturally!!

We are African people and our natural inclination is to work in small ethnic groups. All we have to do is exploit it by pulling power to a central point.

This concept isn't just known to work the best in economics but it's also known to work in computing.

Dr. Philip Emeaghali, the inventor of the supercomputer stumbled on the idea when he realized that thousands of little chickens pulling a cart would generate more power and would work more efficiently than one elephant pulling the same cart. The chickens would do a better job because they'll work more efficiently with tiny energy expended than the mighty elephant using all his energy at once. And using this idea he was able to create a super computer using thousands of small processors.

Secondly, Elon Musk has used the same idea to build the most efficient and biggest battery in the world by coupling thousands of small "finger batteries" together.

When the different ethnic nationalities that make up Nigeria exercise their autonomy and work as federating units, we'll achieve enormous power. Until we understand this, exploit it, and implement it, we'll remain naturally heterogeneous societies forcing ourselves to be un-naturally homogeneous.

Emeaghali demonstrated the idea in the picture below.

A commendable effort. What he did was local assembling of a tricycle.

The world has moved forward technologically, and we're several years behind. We need to catch up. We cannot reinvent the wheel but we can adopt & improve on existing technology through collaborations & partnerships with countries & companies with advanced technologies.

You're absolutely correct. We can learn from India. Though still a developing country but is making more meaningful progress.

Our political class & ruling elites are selfish, deceitful & not patriotic. The majority are not productive & depend solely on the sharing formula from an oil monoeconomy.

We need visionary & patriotic leaders & not ethnic bigots & leaders who are only interested in benefitting from the politico-economic fortunes of the nation.
