We shot ourselves when we abandoned every other thing that gave us revenue and made our naira powerful after we found crude oil..... the west ddnt do that to us 4 Likes 1 Share |

Reflect7: When we remind them that the federal government of Nigeria made Lagos them go dey cry. Festac 77 made Festac and it's environs what it is till date. The flats that were built then given off to residents of Lagos by the federal government through a very transparent raffle draw. An Elderly family friend of ours won a flat for about the prize of is it twenty naira or ten naira then. A complete 3bedroom flat 3 Likes 1 Share |

jojothaiv: Things were still better then..corruption was not high to the heavens like we have now .....after the whole show....the government gave out housing to many nigerians via lottery.. if it were to be now....the entire flats and housing units would be shared among senators.. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Myer: African religion is based on the belief that lesser deities exist, which compliment, but are subservient to the Almighty Creator. It is not for you to say they are wrong, because you don't know. What we DO KNOW is that AFRICAN RELIGION WAS THE FIRST ON EARTH, and Africa is the CRADLE OF CIVILIZATION. Go tell that to the white colonialists that taught you 'Jesus' and 'Mary'. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Yoighaman: It's not that easy to explain but after that festac the economy suffered. Too much padding in budgets and embezzlement was high. Nigeria never recovered from it again till date 1 Like |

siofra: Most Asians countries have not ''made it''. Nepal, Burma, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Laos, Cambodia, Tibet etc. The few 'tigers' that 'made it' were deliberately selected and elevated by the west after world war 2 (via technology transfer, massive, cheap credit facilities and opening their markets to their manufactures) in order to have them serve as capitalist bulwarks against rampaging Soviet communism in the Asia Pacific. For Africa, their policy has always been to have it remain a supplier of raw materials for western industry. And they go to every length to maintain that, including imposing import restrictions and high tariffs on goods manufactured in Africa (No tariffs on raw materials though). 6 Likes 1 Share |

Why are we living off past glory? Why haven’t we done something of this scale for the past forty-five years? Watch Nairaland celebrate this same event in the next four years. Stagnant country. Stagnant people. 1 Like |

judedwriter: COLONISED MUMU. So African culture in your colonised head is 'idolatry'? FESTAC was done precisely to rid Africa of stupid, brainless mumus like you. The civil war that killed millions of people a few years before FESTAC, who will you blame for that? The African gods as well? Or Satan was paying us in advance before FESTAC? Stupid mumu. 11 Likes 1 Share |

This is a great topic. It just shows what was about to be and what could have been. Nigerians from top to bottom are greedy and want others groveling at their feet. The past glory, level of security and growth cannot happen without strong government intervention. 1 Like |
