The boy who serves his oga is actually not allowed by law to have money till he finishes learning his trade and gets settled to start his own. It’s therefore assumed that whatever money the boy used in this situation to play the bet belongs to his boss.

Really? ... so he can't be gifted money? .... this is not apprenticeship... this is indenture ... half step above slavery.

I don't even know why the boy would even be listening to his covetous boss. ... he should walk out from his place ... go to the nearest car dealer ... buy a car and drive back to his village or wherever.

Lol, I agree he needs to give Oga small change but saying he has to do it because it's the oga's money he used is funny. You think if Oga knew the boy uses his money to play bet9ja he wouldn't have sent him packing But now wey luck don shine on the boy Oga wan dey claim, honestly if I was the boy I won't give him more than 200k.

Don't know what you're talking about but that's the way the Oga - boy system works. Certain things about it might not make sense to me and you but that's the way it is.

The very day your people entrusted you to him , you will be clearly told who is the boss and owner. You can not be under him and be building up yourself financially. It doesn't work like that.

You are basically working for him for the years you are with him untill you start your own. You can't run a personal business or state making personal income while still under the "Oga".

We might not like that but that's the way it works

For a lot of people who do not know much about the apprentice system, I’d explain further for you. The boy who serves his oga is actually not allowed by law to have money till he finishes learning his trade and gets settled to start his own. It’s therefore assumed that whatever money the boy used in this situation to play the bet belongs to his boss. His winning should actually entirely go to the boss if he was a selfish man. Asking for equal sharing is valid and no one should feel cheated here.

Abeegi which law is that? Quote it make we learn biko

More reason most Nigerians are nothing to write home about once money enter the picture.

The 38 million naira bet also confirm this.

The boss should watch his back....

Let say there was no news of such and the guy won, would you still go ahead and quote that 'silent' way of how the apprenticeship works?

Some yahoo boys go dey use waist bag carry cash come bet shop dey stake 50k cash on games..and I wonder why they can't do that online. Yeye eye service.

He should give his Oga some naa
As long as he's with the Oga, he has no money because it's ogas money that's being used .

His Oga doesn’t wish him well. A kind oga would advise his apprentice to open his own business without needing to settle the apprentice afterwards but NO! bitterness will not let him think properly angry

This matter is easy. Once the money lands in my account, I will go to barrack and rent 5 soldiers for 200k each to escort me to the oga house to pack my load. I still have 15M. The end.

not all the time
In some Good oga and boy situation he may be saving and doing okay for himself small small, not necessarily big or grand Scale...
Until it is officially settled and he is independent

Why can't apprentices do such things without louding it?

A similar situation happened in Onitsha and the boss wanted the whole money. The boss said he is entitled to the whole money because the apprentice used his (boss's money) to play the bet. Meanwhile, the apprentice used his lunch money for the bet as his boss gave him 300 Naira daily for lunch. I don't know how they settled it.

I am not in support of the boss's claim. But let us be factual and logical here. It is best to keep such as a secret. If you as an apprentice expose such, the boss can claim the money. He can even win in a law court because the apprentice is his responsibility and the apprentice is obligated to dedicate all his time to serving the boss during the apprentiship period. If the apprentice dies during the apprentiship period, the boss would be held responsible. This is why whatever the apprentice achieves under the boss is accredited to the boss.

So, if you are an apprentice and you play bet or anything for yourself, keep it as a secret. Your boss owns you when you are under him. So, use your brain.

They shared the money each person 9million and main market union took 2million

Not allowed!
Unless your Oga feels like being carefree with you.
The codes are all known.
As long as you are under him, all monetary gains from businesses done belongs to him.
If you want to start making your own cash, you go and meet him and surrender all his tools to him and go and start your own.

Like I said before, you may not agree with these codes but they're there for a reason.
If the guy under an Oga starts running around for his cash and starts keeping all gains made to himself like this one, while still under him, how does the Oga make his money? Is he competing with his "boy"?

So you think the best course of action for a person who just came into money and has no source of income is to go out and buy a car?
