Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has dared the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to stop the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom or any other candidate of the party from contesting the 2023 general elections saying that the former President of the Senate is just playing to the gallery and has no power to do so.

Iyorchia Ayu had while addressing his kinsmen in Gboko, Benue State last Friday stated that he has the powers to stop Ortom who is one of the four Governors sympathetic to Wike from contesting the 2023 general elections. He also stated that nobody can sack him as National Chairman of the PDP.

Responding, Governor Wike says the matter was never about “sack”; but about keeping to the promise made and respecting the party’s constitution which states that the Party’s National and Chairman and Presidential Candidate cannot come from the same region or zone of the country.

Jokes apart, Ayu can not do that now.
Any substitution of candidates will never be entertained by INEC now, unless there is a court order to that effect.
No court order will be issued unless there is a tangible or substantial reason to do so.
Wike knows this, that's why he's daring the National Chairman.�

This one is playing to the gallery as usual. As a National Chairman, he can. Wike and others used Secondus to hijack PDP structure from a sitting governor in Cross Rivers. Wike is found of replying to Ayu, even when the man is saying the obvious.

Why don't you leave the party rather than insulting the integrity of members..... I don't think there's any committed party will allow you join them.
