Soludo's Verdict On Po's Savings, A Personal Vendetta??? by EasternActivist: 8:05pm On Nov 14, 2022 |
For you to understand soludo's acrimonious disposition on his brother, you must read this writeup. Volume 1 ............ Before I start, I have to make it unequivocally clear that I am an ardent supporter of Mr. Governor (Prof. Soludo, C C). However, as a literate mind, I owe God Almighty and my teachers the primary responsibility of separating facts from sentiments. It is not in doubt that Mr. Governor has been preparing himself for the country’s top job. Having graduate with first class honors in Economics and proceeded to become a professor in his 30’s, Mr. Governor brandishes not just an intimidating profile, but a CV capable of securing the job of the most exalted office in the land, especially in a country where the current president cannot pass to teach in a nursery school. As at 2009 when he left the CBN, the only thing lacking in this colourful CV was an executive experience which many Nigerians regard as a criterion to be qualified for the number one seat. After his spell as the CBN governor, Prof. Soludo contested to be the governor of Anambra state though the platform of the ruling PDP, but lost to the incumbent governor Peter Obi. It appeared that the drama of the 2009 election may have gone beyond the polls, because according to indications, APGA in Anambra state felt betrayed by Prof. Soludo and the PDP over pre-election and post election issues. This insinuation may not be unconnected to the puzzling disqualification of Mr. Governor by the APGA screening committee in 2013 over extremely frivolous reasons, after allegedly promising to hand him the gubernatorial ticket of the party. Again, Mr. Peter Obi was blamed for this “UNFAIR” action by those who alleged that the party structure worked with him to achieve the disqualification of Soludo and others over flippant reasons, just to give way for the anointed candidate. Since these incidents, the political bad-blood between these gentlemen has exacerbated into character assassination and denigrating appraisal. Mr. Governor has never failed to exploit any given opportunity to vilify Mr. Peter Obi’s performance as the governor of Anambra state. In an interview in 2015, Prof. Soludo was quoted as saying the following: "One of those present took the satire to some level by comparing Jonathan to the ‘performance’ of the former Governor of Anambra, Peter Obi. He noted that while Obi gloated about ‘savings’, there is no signature project to remember his regime except that his regime took the first position among all states in Nigeria in the democratization of poverty—- mass impoverishment of the people of Anambra. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, poverty rose under his watch in Anambra from 20% in 2004 (lowest in Nigeria then) to 68% in 2010 (a 238% deterioration!). Our friend likened it to a father who had no idea of what to do with his resources and was celebrating his fat bank account while his children were dying of kwashiorkor. He pointed out that since it is the likes of Peter Obi who are the advisers to Jonathan on how to manage the economy (thereby confusing micromanagement which you do as a trader with macro governance) it is little wonder that poverty is fast becoming another name for Nigeria. It was a very hilarious evening." I went further to verify the authenticity of this statement and here are two major highlights of my findings. 1) In 2004, the poverty rate in Anambra was 41.4%. In 2006, it was 49.6% (this was the time Obi took over). In 2010 it grew to 53.7%. For good students of economics, you will agree with me that there was a global financial crisis in 2008 which affected almost every part of the world including Nigeria whose income is largely dependent on oil. Please see the attached information below for confirmation of the poverty rate in other states at that time. 2) However, in 2014, when Obi handed over to Obiano, Anambra was the third poverty least state in Nigeria at 11.20% just below lagos and osun. But far above FCT, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and other oil producing states in the country. See the attached pic below. The latest claim made by Mr. Governor is not different from his vilifying antecedents on the personality and political pedigree of Mr. Peter Obi. It is even laughable that a professor of such repute could make a huge statement without a single evidence, especially when its on record that 1) Willie Obiano in 2017 governorship debate affirmed that Mr. Peter Obi left several billions for Anambra state and ; 2) A sitting state governor (Darius Dickson Ishaku) was recorded saying that his colleague from Anambra state (Willie Obiano) told him that the airport he constructed was funded from the savings Mr. Peter Obi left for the state. -Peco Dee Cc: Mynd44, nlfpmod.seun 2 Likes

Over 98% of you Igbos on NL are born Foolish, Tinubu have Yoruba attacking his flaws, same with Atiku they do not go about shouting personal vendetta but pandora oloriburuku Peter Obi think every one must support him. Now imagine the person of Obi n compare to his leadership quality with that of Awolowo MKO who their tribesmen do not love 100%, can any igbo tell us what Peter Obi accomplished that is 1/4 of the achievement of these men n why Peter Obi think he should be entitled to 100% loyalty from his tribesmen when those that did more to their tribesmen never got 100% loyalty |

Sonyboom: You're very irresponsible for cursing Igbos... Infact you're not okay... Can't you make submission without cursing tribe... For your information tinubu and atiku are not supposed to be running for presidency in a sane clime, so if they are being attacked by Nigerians don't term it as yorubas or hausas. Don't be a foolish tribal bigot. What did tinubu do in Lagos that obi didn't achieve even more better. Tinubu left Lagos in debt, obi didn't... Uptil now tinubu is receiving huge pension in expense of Lagos state. Obi is investing in humanitarian services not just in Anambra but in the country at large. Abeg say something else. 2 Likes

Sonyboom: Source? When and where exactly did Peter Obi state that he thinks everyone must support him. Where please? The man is not a saint. But people are not interested in APC for another eight years, not interested in a muslim-muslim ticket. I think Prof Osibanjo would have been a more acceptable flag bearer. |

YourMrBoo:Typical of Peter Obi supporters. A few months ago when he was running for governor he was your darling but now he's taking shots at Obi for lying he's now the bad guy. Better brace up to face the reality that your messiah is not going to be president next year |

Sonyboom: Do you expect people to be silent when character assassination is in play? It is all over the internet how Obi left Anambra a much better state but here we have a soludo who rode on Obi”s achievements to get to office but who chooses to now dish out gibberish for whatever reasons best known to him. 1 Like |
