Twitter set up a blue check mark system to verify accounts and control reckless utterances on the platform. The blue check mark and speech moderation policy of Twitter makes Twitter an advert hub for huge brands.

Now its a paid service. So if that freaks you, you can get yours. Quite cheap so eventually everyone on twitter gets the blue tick.

The the official badge to identify the high and mighty (special ones) which you ll never get.
