It is always the case. Satan the deceiver will always lead people to do stupid things and as soon as they are into it, he will abandon them to suffer the consequences alone.
Satan is the accuser of the brethren. He only comes to deprive us from enjoying peace, love and happiness pre provided for us by God. His goals are to destroy and kill. If only humans will understand this, rebuke and resist him early enough, he will go down into the abys where he is meant to be alone. Satan doesn't want to suffer that loneliness alone, so he will want some people to be with him and suffer together.

Let us always ask God for the grace to decern the spirit that is propelling us towards any action so that we don't regret at the end.
