The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced the airlifting of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machines to states in preparation for the 2023 general election. Now, the journey to 2023 begins. Hoping for a free, fair and credible election after all these dramas. This is Nigeria, anything can happen as we all know. I hope those machines can't be compromised and INEC as a body won't bow to unnecessary pressures that may later surface as par the usage of the BVAS machines. I'm not comfortable with the fact that airlifting the BVAS is made public. This should have been done discreetly. Secondly it's too early to start moving them knowing that some politicians are capable of anything given the spate of burnings of INEC offices. Also the early movement would give the politicians ample time to work with unscrupulous INEC personnels to manipulate or tamper the BVAS. I would've suggested that the movement of these devices should have been at most 3 weeks to election date since it's within the country and by air. 5 Likes |
