Confession is one thing...fighting the case in court is another.

Cases have been dismissed because of irregularities in the confession.(One case in the USA was dismissed because there was evidence the man was not allowed a lawyer while under arrest.)

By having their client plead not guilty, the woman's lawyers hope to contest some aspects of the case, and maybe get a reduced sentence.
