The Atiku Campaign Organisation on Thursday listed reasons why President Muhammadu cannot support the presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, flagbearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Earlier, a former Commissioner for Information in Edo State and a staunch loyalist of Tinubu, Prince Kassim Afegbua had said it will be un-Islamic and ungodly for President Buhari to reward Tinubu with ingratitude despite all he (Tinubu) did in 2015 to make Buhari realise his dream of becoming president after losing on three occasions.

Speaking with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Kola Ologbondiyan, a spokesperson of the Atiku Campaign Organisation said it will be difficult for President Buhari to campaign and handover Nigeria to Tinubu in 2023 given the drug allegation scandal linked to the former Lagos state governor which made him forfeit $460,000 to the United States Government.

“There are many reasons why Buhari cannot support Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. For Tinubu to get Buhari’s support, he needs to clear his name on this issue of forfeiture of $460,000 to the United States Government”.

“Don’t forget that as a military Head of State, Buhari demonstrated his averseness to the issue of drug trafficking. It was so much that those who were linked to drug trafficking were shot dead”.

“So, how will Buhari now rationalise parading a candidate or handing over to someone who is alleged to be involved in drug trafficking and even forfeited $460,000 to the US government? The Buhari I know will never do that”.

“Secondly, Tinubu publicly declared that without him, the man couldn’t have become president. He boasted that after Buhari has lost the election three times, he was crying and almost gave up on his political dream”. He said he was the one that resuscitated his life and even made him president. It’s natural for Buhari to say ‘okay, if it is you that made me president, now make yourself president’.
