It is not the duty of the Auditor General to check for errors in the Appropriation Bill. That’s the duty of the budget office and the National Assembly.
How do we know whose duty is what? Are you expressing an opinion or something that has a statutory or constitutional basis?

Goes to show how ignorant you are about the budgeting process. The Auditor General plays no role in the process leading to the passage of the budget. His power to check and monitor implementation start after the Appropriation bill becomes Appropriation Act.

Get yourself properly educated before rushing to comment ignorantly on a public forum.

It is the statutory duty of the budget office of the federation to prepare the Appropriation bill after collating the proposed estimate of all MDAs. If there are errors from MDAS, they should have cleaned it up before forwarding it to the president for transmission to the National Assembly.

Similarly, it’s also the duty of the National Assembly to check the Appropriation bill submitted by the president and ensure everything is in order before passing it into law. Once it leaves the National
Assembly and the president signs, it can no longer be adjusted except it is returned back to the National Assembly for amendment.

In all the processes above, the Auditor General for the Federation plays no role apart from submitting the annual estimate of his office to the budget office. So, you can’t blame the AuGF for the errors noticed by NASS in the proposed budget.
