Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant (Public Communication) to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Phrank Shaibu, on Sunday accused the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, accusing of trying to ride to Aso Villa on treachery.

He said contrary to the denial from Tinubu’s camp, the former Lagos State Governor indeed met with five aggrieved PDP governors in London.

There were reports that Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), met Tinubu in London.
Tinubu’s media team has since denied the reports.

But Shaibu, in a statement titled, “Tinubu wants to ride on treachery to the villa”, obtained by journalists in Abuja, insisted that the former governor of Lagos State met with the five PDP governors in London.

He said, “I make bold to state that if the G-5 never met with Tinubu, Wike would have been the one to deny it.

“Curiously, while the news of the meeting, which was reported by several credible media houses was trending, two spokesmen for the APC Presidential Campaign, Festus Keyamo and Femi Fani-Kayode took to social media to celebrate the support Tinubu would be getting from the G-5.

He said it was funny that it took the Tinubu camp three days before denying the meeting, adding that it is “also awfully coincidental that the G-5 and Tinubu all decided to travel to London at the same time and depart at the same time with Tinubu proceeding to Saudi Arabia and the other governors returning to Nigeria.”

He claimed that Tinubu decided to deny the meeting because “the details of the meeting are too messy and the APC candidates in the five states are fighting back.

“All the G-5 governors are on the ballot except for Governor Wike and there is a fight back from the APC governorship and National Assembly candidates from the affected states where the G-5 Governors hold sway.”

If they are in league with APC, Tinubu would certainly not admit it.

This is how they have turned brazen lies telling and deliberately distortion of falsehood as policies of governce.

"..As the 2023 general elections beckon, Nigerians and people of goodwill should come together and make sure that the APC and its Leadership does not have access to power again. This clarion call becomes necessary because APC is a Party that is made up of strange bedfellows whose political and economic interests are antithetical to the development of Delta State in particular and Nigeria in general.

The struggle for power, "grab-grab" and if "it is not me, it cannot be another person's mentality" of APC Leaders is what has brought Nigeria on her knees today!

Whether they met or didn't meet, one thing is clear...the G5 governors never endorsed Tinubu.

There will be no public endorsement. However, agreement was reached. The G-5 governors will work for Tinubu. That’s the only realistic option in front of them as there is no alternative.

Only two candidates can realistically win the election. Since Atiku is not an option for them, Tinubu is the only person they can support. Supporting Peter Obi will not make Peter Obi win and they know it. With or without G-5, Obi should win Abia, Enugu and Rivers. He’s never going to win Benue and Oyo with or without G-5.

Again, making a public endorsement of Tinubu will not be good at this point and can even be counterproductive. Some northerners may see it as a southern gang up against Atiku while APC members in G-5 states may think their ambition is being sacrificed for the presidential candidate. The possible problem it could cause is why Atiku’s camp is insisting and shouting that Tinubu met with G-5. So you see, the denial from APC and G-5 is just to forestall all these possible problems.

More consultations and sensitization will be done on all sides while they keep working for Tinubu quietly without any official announcement. This is high wire politics.
