Kogi Queries Ohinoyi Of Ebiraland Over Absence During Buhari’s Visit by ExAngel007(f): 12:07pm On Jan 07, 2023
The Kogi state government has queried Abdul Rahman
Ado Ibrahim, Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, for his refusal to
welcome President Muhammadu Buhari during his visit to
the state.

Buhari visited the state on December 29 to inaugurate
some completed projects.

In a query letter signed by Enimola Eniola, the state
director of chieftaincy affairs, the state government said
the traditional ruler’s refusal to receive Buhari is a
deliberate action capable of bringing Kogi state and
Ebiraland to “grave disrepute”.

It added that the monarch has shown disdain and
disloyalty to the office of the governor.

“Specifically, you were aware through many fora of the
glorious visit of Mr. President and Commander-in-Chief of
Nigerian Armed Forces, His Excellency, President
Muhammadu Buhari to Okene on 29th December, 2022 to
commission landmark projects executed by our dear
Governor, His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello. In a flagrant
disregard to the persons and high offices of the President
and the Governor, you bluntly refused to come out and
receive the President at the designated venue rightly
approved by the Executive Governor of the State,” the letter
reads.

“It might interest you to note that official courtesy
demands that when a personality of a President occupying
the highest office in the land is visiting or even passing
through the State, the Governor and top Public Officers
including topmost Traditional Rulers are expected to
receive him as a mark of respect for him and the Office he
occupies.

“It is on record that in time past, Topmost Traditional
Rulers including the President, Kogi State Council of Chiefs
do receive the Governor of the State on his return from
critical missions undertaken on behalf of the State. But,
you have chosen to disdain the office of the Executive
Governor, and this time, you did it with effrontery before
the number one citizen of Nigeria.

“This action of yours is an act of insubordination and
disloyalty to the President and Commander-in-Chief of
Nigerian Armed Forces, the Executive Governor of Kogi
State and the entire Ebira nation as a whole. It portends
grave danger to the Security of the State and laying bad
precedence for Traditional Institution of the State.”

The state government, therefore, has directed the
traditional ruler to forward a written explanation within 48
hours on why disciplinary action should not be taken
against him.

It added that oral explanations may also be required when
a panel is set up to study the case.

He has no duty to the state government or the federal government, if so be he should be given powers to judge cases and pronounce civil laws in his kingdom

Nice query.

Whatever direction your partisanship may lie you MUST welcome the president.

Just as you would expect respect in your domain same must be reciprocated to such offices as Governor or President.

Do not forget, your office is under the purview of the governor who has the authority to hire and fire.

Because you don't want to respect constituted authority enshrined in that from which you derive yours.

buharI is the one that is supposed to go to his palace to greet him. Have you head that emir of Kano or oba of Benin left his throne to a designated place just to welcome the president, Ado Ibrahim is a 90 something yeas old man who has been there even before Bello know his right from left.
Politicians should stop stamping on our traditional institution.

In so much that it is the expected of a traditional ruler to set good moral standards in according the president and governors respect, it is not a constitutionally bound responsibility because as custodians of the traditional stools, they are not expected to unnecessarily mingle with partisan politics. Everyone must not be a sai baba zombie.

This goes to confirm that most people u see in political rallies were actually statutory attendees, they are not there because they are convinced in d ideologies of d party or believe in d competency of d candidate but as this query shows they are there because by virtue of the office they hold. Yes Buhari visited Kogi and d presence of this respected Royal father would mean by politicians that he is happy with Buhari and APC. He chose to be absent to protect his dignity and conscience not out of disrespect but he is convinced that everything pertaining to d president's visit during this election season will be manipulated to mean some form of endorsement for d State government and APC

Do we really have a president?

A man who doesn’t care about the people

Killings going on unabated, majority goes to bed with empty stomach, suffering raised to power ten and many more negativity everywhere

May God save Nigeria from bad Nigerians
