UKPONG CHUWANG DANIEL, SENATORIAL CANDIDATE OF APGA CROSS RIVER STATE GOT ATTACKED BY THUGS OF THE DYING APC ON SUNDAY 19TH FEBRUARY and ALL THE DPO OF ATAKPA DIVISION CARED ABOUT IS HOW HE WASN'T VISITED BY THE APGA SINCE INCEPTION CAMPAIGN AS DONE BY OTHER POLITICAL PARTIES.

APC's Thugs attacked the Senatorial Candidate of APGA, His Municipality & Akpabuyo Coordinators amongst others and the DPO of the Division with jurisdiction to handle the matter said he was not aware of any APGA'S Candidate as he was not visited since inception of Campaign but Commissioner and other ranks were visited. So, he directed that we file our complain at the desk and walked away saying the Candidate should book appointment to see him and do the right thing if he wants him to know of his Candidature. This he did despite being told the Area Commandant send us to him and needs to speak with him.

The Narrative:
The Team of 7 women and two young boys went out to cheer people up about Saturday's upcoming National Assembly elections. Amongst them are the Coordinators of Akpabuyo and Municipality Local Government Areas. It was in that train that the Thugs of APC attacked them physically and assaulted the Coordinator of Municipality (Mrs Doris) who was peacefully sharing her thoughts of the visions her Candidate has which is Opening Up Cross River State with Highways and Bridges into the Capital City to stop the cancer of one way in one way out of that held sway the supposed development of the State.

Her audience listened with enthusiasm as they became excited and proud to have such a Thirty Five(35) year old man of Vision contesting for a Seat in Cross River State to represent them at the National which to them will end the poor State of things in the State.

Little did she know the APC thugs standing by felt inferior about no plans nor manifesto of their Candidate to match with what comes out from this young mother of four who passionately expresses her joy about how her expectations of a better and fruitful City Cross River South will turn into.

Their gross inferiority led to their assaulting her, squeezing her hands and punching her. They dragged off a wrap of stickers (over 500pcs) from which she was sharing to drivers for their cars and buses as she share the plans and promises of her Principal whom they kept shouting his Name as their Senatorial Candidate and the only one to paste stickers in Calabar. In the process, the Coordinator of Akpabuyo, Miss Veronica in an attempt to help rescue Mrs Doris from their Hands was pushed and dislocated her left food. While on the floor, they threw stones at her in attempt to get her more wounded.

As it were, the APGA Senatorial Candidate (Mr Ukpong Chuwang Daniel) was at GTBank's Compound in the Neighborhood of the incident waiting for his turn to use the ATM amidst the sufferings of Nigerians in these days of Currency Swap.
Mrs Doris who knowing she saw him before leading her Team in the company of her friend the coordinator of Akpabuyo ran to him for help as they almost injured her. Ukpong felt is was a mild matter, hence going to make Peace and calm the situation. That was when a mob of prison break faces with stones and sticks came forth attacking him and hitting him with their stones asking he leave their State alone and take his lofty plans out of the State as they are okay with their Senatorial Candidate (Asuquo Ekpenyong and his no personal plan other than support the Guber Candidate of his party.

They chanted "...go away, leave our one way in one way out for us, we are okay with our Candidate. Don't come here telling us you will make us like Dubai & Singapore. We are okay with our Candidate who's only dream is to support Prince Bassey...".

When they began throwing stones at the Senatorial Candidate of APGA, people around and passersby pushed him away protecting him. A call was made to the Area Commandant of Nigerian Police Force Akim Area Command who directed the Candidate to report at the ATAKPA DIVISION Calabar South. On getting there, the DPO took over 25mins before coming out to attend to the Candidate.
Without waiting for him to finish explaining the incident, the DPO said he has no Knowledge of APGA having a Candidate as he was never visited nor was a relationship built with him by the Candidate. He said other Parties were in his office to built partnership which makes him serve them by a simple phone call but APGA went to the Commissioner and Other higher ranks only to remember him when they have problem needing his security men. Then he walked away asking the Candidate to file a complain it will be looked into. But to inform him of APGA having a Candidate, an appointment can be booked and the candidate should go do the right thing but not to use situation to inform him of his Candidature as other Parties did.

On the issue of APC, the Candidate for Peace, before heading to the Police Station called the Senatorial Candidate of APC and it's State Secretary to kindly educate the remaining followers & supporters of the dying party to kindly conduct themselves as civil as possible so that they could at least be received into other Parties after theirs lack face in the Nation.

But the Candidate didn't respond except for the State's Secretary who said he was out of Town and can't assure reaching anyone from where he is.
If APC and it's Candidates have anything to offer Nigeria and Nigerians, they should kindly dialogue it out and let the people weigh their words with actions. Attacking people or having low minds who despite all the failure of the party still go about thuggery as sign of loyalty as has become cancerous of Lagos State is but a clear sign of being defeated by their track record which is but a pity.

The Area Commandant was called but his contact wasn't connecting as of time of filing this.

The Nigerian Police Force should kindly caution the DPO of ATAKPA DIVISION Calabar to desist from making himself superior to his Seniors in service where he attempts to condition Candidates to pay him visit even after paying same to his Superiors else he wouldn't attend to their safety whenever called upon.

We need a working system and not what he is seamlessly communicating as his standard.

Janet Akwagiobe;
Eye Witness of the whole incident & Assistant Press Secretary;
Ukpong Chuwang Daniel Campaign Organization
