What Is The Censor Board Doing About Our Home Vids by Nobody: 2:00pm On Sep 05, 2011
This issue has been bothering me for a while now and I felt maybe some of you guys could share same of it or possibly gather solution about it;

I don't know if you guys have recently noticed the gross Unclothedness and obscene images our home vids carry on posters and on scenes. Now I wouldn't care the if the main patronage was from core adult audience but my problem is the kids involved in viewing this things without parental discretion or adequate measure to censor this materials from the eyes and reach of our infant population is so alarming. what message are we sending to them!

I mean what set of morals beings are we breeding? shocked embarassed

I am really appalled by it. our actors/actresses and movies are becoming more daring and its like nobody can stop them. our censor laws need to be more stricter

who will make the law stricter? those in govt enjoys seeing them like that and most of then will want to sleep with them.

i fear for this generation. Moral values have disappeared. our children are learning bad things from the adults(parents).

may God save us

if it's offensive don't watch it. My only concern is were you warned? if not then you have a case.

Poster, I wish it was only the nude picture we had to worry about. No wonder they are thinking of legalizing whor.edom, ga.yism and lesbos, Naija we hail thee.

they are not doing anything and frankly it is annoying, now you have to becareful of the films - can't watch with your children cant watch with your parents, and the thing that kills is that these scenes ADD NOTHING to the story lines(i think it is the infiltration of the rubbish ghana films that cause this problem- anything goes with their films)-

before scenes that called for sexual innuendo was inferred but now all is in the open, you have half naked bodies and gyrrations on screen- so not called for- you have chicks with their cleavage xposed down to their knees, COME ON NOW - TWO THUMBS DOWN

let us embrace our values- we dont have to imbie the west in everything- look at their culture morally - is that what we are striving to emulate
Re: What Is The Censor Board Doing About Our Home Vids by Nobody: 4:37pm On Oct 14, 2011
dvds and videos and vcd are totally different from posters and co.warning does and should not even be allocated for such media.d\posters with nudity and sexual activities should never be allowed to be put up

even in western movies, how many times do you see them do all those sexual scenes.they do it but compared to ghana movies and now naija movies, they could be called saints, have seen some ghana movies that just peed me off big time, from scene to scene it was sex galore
Re: What Is The Censor Board Doing About Our Home Vids by Ayokunle07(m): 4:43pm On Oct 14, 2011
I share the same sentiments.

Something else worries me and I see it a lot in yoruba movies: the sheer use of abusive and curse words; the manner in which such languages are openly spewed out, I think the government should control and seriously regulate these movies, at least appriopriately rate them.

i tell u, used to be that our movies were hailed by the outside community, wholesome, relateable evryday type stories, enjoyed in the diapora by our communities and other communities, but now we are destroying the core of that which makes our movies unique and highly marketable,

am young and not being a prude so dont get me wrong but i dont want to be bombared with sex.ual images in my movies- you want to do blue movie then do it and label it accordingly so your market will buy it, don't throw that on me, i hate being bamboozled with what looks like an interesting movie only to be watching soft p!or.n-

come on- i dont know of naija culture/society having a culture of open sensuality (at least not the igbo area i grew up in) so why do we celebrate these themes, y do we market videos with all these sex.ual topics ? we have been going OVERBOARD, time to reign things in before we destroy nollywood's image,

Then have a ratings system for Christs sake, just like they do worldwide, family films rated G, teenage rated PG 13 and !8 and over for more mature themed movies.

Darn.nigerian movies have had bloody scenes and violence for years since way back in the late 80s, how come there is a little full mouth kissing that you "get all your panties in a bunch"

Hypocrites grin

No nigerian movie has full on "nudity" as far as I know not to even mention "boning", ;DYou're crying wolf where there is none.

Give me a freakin break

yes they have a ratings sysytem WHICH IS NOT USED, it is not visiblly on the cover of the movie - so that you know what you're buying and then on the movies which have hours of previews - those previews aren't compliant with the rating of the movie you are about to watch- there is no rating on that, kinda defeats the point

i havent seen any rated XX yet alot of the movies am talking about that are indescent do not have such rating IF ANY on the cover

YOU are saying our movies do not show full on "Unclothedness" as far as I know not to even mention "boning", ;DYou're crying wolf where there is none"- well, if that were so- which it isnt do we have to get to that pointif that is okay for westerners let it remain with them- i am saying that i don't like it and i don't want it in a movie am watching, you have not seen some of the useless movies coming out where there are slivers of Unclothedness or se.x scenes where you dont have to imagine what is going on-  i would mention the names but i dont remember the ones that i unknowlingly watched and to the ones i remember i will not mention bc i do not want to give it free publicity,

listen if nollywood wants to continue with the soft po*rn they produce- they can- just let them identify very well the movies that fall in that category so that I WILL NOT BUY IT, right now only experience guides my decision so any ghana movie- i will not watch and then any movie with munachi___, tonto dike, oge okoye, count me out, they moonlight as po*rn stars

I have a friend who stared in a Nollywood movie called My Love Doctor or something of that name - it was rubbish as are alot of Nigerian movies anyway

Anyway she said that as well as actors doing juju against one another she said that Sodom and Gomorrah was to kind a word to describe what these actors get up to.

Why oh why Nigerians have to copy Hollywood which is said to be filled with p-e-d-o-philes though to be RAW its the true nature of these people being shown on celluloid.

Im afraid for Nigeria they seem to be allow the West to dictate moral terms to us as they did with South Africa for economic privileges

Interesting that PM David Cameron is trying to get tough on porn and violence here on the UK - hope it comes to fruitiion

Quit being an alarmist, your definition of "soft por.n" is what?? miniskirts?Hugging??brief kisses??shirtless men??village women with just one wrapper tied across their torsos

Your are being very vague coolThey don't show nipples or bare bewbs even All they show are two fully clothed people grinding on each other, which does not in any imagination equal to "soft por.n"

Here is an idea, stick to your religously themed movies and I'm pretty sure you will be fine. How much more censorship do you folks wantWe are even on a website where all sort of regular language is censored, what are we turning into, the TALBAN

That is the damn truth, i min Nigerian(nollywood) movies of lets say 4 years ago weren't like this until these ghanians started trouping into our entertainment industry. With the like of Majid michael who is a sex god in ghanian movies coming to Nigeria to act film.
Re: What Is The Censor Board Doing About Our Home Vids by Nobody: 2:30pm On Oct 15, 2011
@ralphjoe. Dats true. The system for censoring videos should be fully applied. As of present u walk into a home video store and u see all type of nigerian films:- juju oh soft p.orn, romance etc. All stacked under the same censor system. Abroad a clear distinction is made btw mainstream movies and por.n.

For those peeps talking about sensor board's rating for audience control and all that, sounds to me needless. By now, every Nigerian should know that our system is a failed one, I believe what is not efficient is worthy to be themed failed!!!

Our home vids adverts are usually labeled "PG" or 18 - yes the censor board are doing their work, but not efficiently. It is the place of the parents to restrict their wards from watching all these soft indecency tapes, secondly the govt has to press the folks who make all this wretchedness to a tight corner, let them be aware that there's an eye watching them

Finally show me a CD store attendant who has refused to sell an "18" rated status home vid to a minor and I will show you hundreds of them that are selling indiscriminately to our minors!!!

The one wey concise them, shey dem put measures, just go and try to rent a movie and see the reaction of of those morally retards!  I am an angel either but I want children to grow up with the right mindset!

its obvious that you have not watched recent nollywood movies or you wouldnt be asking me my definition of soft p*orn when it is evidently shown, what you imagine soft p*orn to be is exactly what am talking about, am not talking about mini skirt wearers, am not talking about kissing in a scene, but it is the grinding, it is the suggestion of a female giving a man o*ral s$ex, it is the nakkidness and so on- you can just check out the previews of a movie hot fork- i have not watched it bc the previews alone was enuff to tell me to stay away, there are others out there that i just dont remember the name of, it exists we are not making nosie for the sake of making nosie,

thank you for suggesting your idea but how bout u do your research before jumping on the band wagon to oppose, i want to stick to my WHOLESOME nollywood films- (thats what they were when they came out and built themselves to be the instution they are now, that will be destroyed with all this gratituious nonsenscial s*ex scenes), at the least let them heavily label that the movie is xrated then i will gladly stay away and then you and your types can watch all the nollywood blue films you want

NO one is taking away the responsibility of the parent in raising their children- you are talking a whole different thing, you are assuming that these films are 1)labeled and 2) labeled correctly,

OUR argument is that these soft p*orn nollywood flicks do not ALERT the viewer as to what they are going to watch/ be exposed to, so unfortunaltey you have instances where the whole family is settling to watch a nollywood movie- (bc we view it as superior to the moral deficient movies that hollywood produces) but lo and behold your scenses get exposed to a very intense se*x scene, not cool , not cool at all, nollywood needs to clean up their act

Lately one film group has taken to streaming a chick in a skimpy 2 piece during their endless previews - like what is that about? All am saying is that leave the follishness out of these films or label correctly-

While I was concentrating on how and what should be done to solve the issue of mass nudity in our films which obviously the Nigerian populace has a part to play - you diverted the topic. I'll tell you.

Yes I really understand what you mean but you see in today's world ignorance or negligence of your duty is not an excuse, families that grossly indulge in watching homes vids are likely to fall prey to unexpected violent or nude scenes bc the they don't take their time to find out which label the vid is attached to. A parent, elder brother or sister should be wise enough to dictate what should be viewed by all, except in the case where all members of the family are adults, so where adequate checks are lacking the unexpected is likely to occur.

Haven't you experienced a scenario where the whole family are glued to the TV screen, all of a sudden, one oga or madam with the remote control or even one of the kids immediately fast forwards an offending scene, because one black Ghanaian actress used her knees to lift a male dick or even worse, I don't know if you sense the discomfort on their faces?

Families have their own part to play. To be very frank with you those stuffs are labeled, the problem isn't not broad its very narrow and so is the solution!
